Hi everyone! So I bought a Norinco m305a recently and wanted to give you my take on it. After cleaning it, I took it to range. At 25 yards, 1 inch group was my best of day. Moving to 100, best group was 3-31/2 inches. Gun is stock except for a better guide rod that I ordered two from out west. The other one was for my m305 b which is in .308 win. New gun is 7.62x39. Something I should mention is it comes with an 18 1/2 barrel and bayonet lug, which I was told by people I bought it from to cut off which I did in order to clean the gas piston. Gun takes ak-47 mags pinned to 5. These mags have to be slightly grinder a little bit at front, by magazine well, not by magazine latch. Overall impression is I am happy with it. It's not an moa gun but I'm happy with accuracy thus far, only had 60 rounds with me. Ammo was Norinco stuff, steel case , non corrosive. I plan on doing a trigger job to it, as I've done that already to its bigger brother and get 3 inch groups on a good day, at 100. Also there is a you tube video on where to grind magazines. One last thing, ak mags are expensive for this gun just so you know, like $80 each expensive. Hope this answers any questions on this gun. I'm happy with it! šŸ˜€

Good that you like it, but M305 makes much more sense in 308.

just think for a second. You bought a rifle, which is heavier and more complex than SKS, for 3 times the price and same accuracy.

I thought about buying one but I don't really need another x39 rifle. I do have the m305 in 308 though. The x39 round isn't really known for being the most accurate but it's still cheap to shoot and yours shoots pretty good so enjoy your new rifle!

I already have Norinco m305b in 308. I always been a fan of the garrand action, mini 14/30, m1 carbine and of course the Norinco , rotating bolts.

sold my 308 to get this one instead. Cheaper to shoot lol so i put on a nikon buckmaster with a casm mount i had laying around and painted the stock. Shimmed it and put a better oprod guide. Here she is. Will do a range test soon.

"One last thing, ak mags are expensive for this gun just so you know, like $80 each expensive"

The M305a takes standard AK magazines from what I understand. Magpul makes AK magazines that are sold by vendors on this site for like $30, (CTCS for example ) Fab Defense has the AK Ultimag also sold by a vendor on this site ( Sold by Zahal )

I was thinking about the 305a for a plinker and was curious if the archangel m14 stock would work with the 305a since it uses a more curved magazine then the 308 version

Magpul ak mags wouldn't fit, bought 2x ak pmags and no joy. Its too thick and tried filling it down and still mo joy. End up selling it for super cheap. As for fab defense, no idea but im adsuming its the same. You can get those 5rd mags for 30$ at lever arms. Good deal and worls great. Just a bit hard to remove from mag well since its so small. For aftermarket stock, the m305a has a welded bridge in magwell to accommodate the ak mags which other stocks dont. Tried on a different stock and ak mags will insert and lock in but is extremely wobbly so i doubt it would cycle.

Hey! I was hoping there might be some info here on whether the CASM mount would fir the M305a...and here it is :)

Thanks for the post.

IRunGuns is selling 5 brand new Croatian AK47 mags for $99 US...

After taxes, shipping & exchange, I paid $30 something per mag...

Cheers

The only reason the x-39 round is not known for its accuracy is because it's mostly shot out of inaccurate rifles! I get sub moa with my cz527 bolt with handloads.

Unbelievably 1-1.5" groups with Ukrainian surplus and same cz... like I said the round isn't inaccurate.

Considerably nicer than 80 a piece.

Agreed & I went looking for the exact price I paid, here is the breakdown.

$99US was $139.92 Canadian after the exchange rate
plus $25.95 Canadian shipping
TOTAL $165.87 Canadian for 5 new Croatian AK47 mags

Which made the mags $33.17 each.

Now initially 2 of the mags would only hold 3 rounds BUT IT WAS AN EASY FIX. I took the base plate off & used a cleaning rod to move one loop of the return spring under the rivet in the spine. And they then held 5 rounds. So frustrating that we have to pin mags. So paternalistic.

Cheers
Jay
