Ontario whitetail rifle

I am gettiing ready for this year's whitetail deer season and deciding on which rifle to take. Hunting will be in Ontario woods around Bancroft area. Mixed bush and fields. I'm down to these two. I know either one will get the job done which makes choosing that much more difficult. What would be your personal preference? Pump or lever?

Either a Browning pump rifle in 30-06 with an illuminated VX6 1-6

or a Browning lever rifle in 308 with an illuminated VXR 2-7

either will do..... the difference between .308 and .30-06 is negligible...... but I do suggest a low power scope and hate levers for what it's worth.....

I hate the 30-30 more.... lol.....

From my experience, the 30-30 lever is the tool of the ultimate fudd..... it's the cheapest "deer rifle" money can buy and is crafted for the "one box of ammo lasts five years" crowd, that sights in and says "good enough".....

That being said, I have no doubt that the 30-30 can be very effective when used within its limitations.... I just see countless threads about stretching it out.....

Take them both and change up every couple of days. Just don't forget to change your ammo too.

Either will suit your needs, whichever one is the lightest and gits you the best is the one I would choose.
