Great shooting. I added you to the successful list.

I got this 1963 Walther KKJ-T last week. I tried it out yesterday and I was impressed by its performance but rain interrupted the session. I went out again today.

I shot a second target that looked like this.

The rifle is a Walther KKJ-T. The "set stud" reduces the 3+ lbs trigger down to 10 ounces. It is a very nice shooting lightweight rifle.

The first target was shot left to right.
Group sizes: .441, .397, .469, .344, .305 inches
Average size: .391 inches

The second target was shot left to right.
Group sizes: .340, .475, .325, .352, .483 inches
Average size: .395 inches

The distance was 57 yards.
The scope is a B&L 36X.
The ammo was SK Standard Plus.

Unofficial Post!

The base rifle, an Anschütz 64 MSR, has already passed this challenge for me. I've tweaked her up with a Shilen custom barrel, and only the 1/4" club is in my sights with this baby ;) I only had a couple hours at the range this morning with two rifles for first ammo testing, and I have yet to run any SK or Lapua through her. RWS R-100 and R-50 results have me licking my chops :d and I know at least 5 of those groups I messed up a shot because I tuned the trigger really low. It is a two-stage trigger, and the take-up pressure is about the same as the 2nd stage "wall" as I've tuned it. This caused me to blow right through stage 2 and unintentionally fire when not ready a few times... shooter error at it's finest ;) I need to re-tune the trigger and I still have a tuner to be fitted to this rifle. 1/2" at 50? *yawn*

*edit* -0.215" was used as a raw group correction factor.

Really nice shooting Myke. I am glad that barrel worked out for you. I saw the post on rfc about what happened to the cone breech barrel for the cz. I am hoping to get out today with my cz since pillaring and bedding. Have not shot it in a month and a half.

I will now be returning my focus to the 0.75" Factory Varmint Rifle challenge. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I had two attempts/targets with R50 last winter that missed by 1 shot each (4 good groups/each) so I hoped I would get it eventually. When I went back to the R50 this summer the results were not as good (temperature?) but when I saw the submission from thechineseguy, I figured I should give Eley Match a try. It certainly delivered!

grauhanen: Thanks! I was very pleased with the wood from the moment I opened the box. I have to agree with those stating that CZ is putting out heirloom quality rifles; it's beautiful! I'm sure your match rifles are another step above in this regard and I hope to someday add an Anschutz to the safe.

Great shooting thenerdboy. I know it feels good after countless, frustrating attempts to get it.Congrats

I feel far more satisfied having had to fight my way onto that list with many successive attempts than I would have if I nailed it on my first try.

If I got a one hitter quitter, I would have been left wondering what all the fuss was about. TO me this thread is one of the best on CGN, and truly represents what this community is all about.

I offer congratulations to everyone who has made it, and wish best of luck/keep at it to everyone who will.

Today was my second trip out with my 1962 Walther KKM target rifle that I purchased from Yodave.
I have to admit that my first trip out with it was a struggle trying to get it to group consistantly.I also found that my go to ammo center X was not doing well in the KKM.Lucky that I had a bunch of ammo on hand as I was testing some of it in my 1813.I had half a box of RWS pistol match and a box of RWS50.I got the best results with the pistol match. So yesterday off I went to LGS and picked up 3 boxes of pistol match and one of pistol target.
I went out this afternoon in the hot windy weather and my first target with the RWS pistol target was good enough for the challenge.I did manage a personal best .132 today with the pistol match, wish I could do that every day.
I also want to Thank Grauhanen AKA Glenn for his tips on holding this rifle firm as I was going nowhere fast with my usual technique.

Rifle is a Walther KKM 1962 Target ,trigger is 2oz
Scope is a Hawke Vantage 6-24x44 warne rings
Shot off my homemade bench with a Rock BR and rear leather bag
Ammo was RWS Pistol Target
Distance was 52yds 33c with wind

Group sizes are .370/.439/.496/.388/.368
Average group size is .412

Here is the 3 targets I shot today with the top one I am submitting for the challenge.
