Lever guys

I have an original model 71 .348 and a model 64 deluxe carbine in 30 wcf. The 71 was my grandfathers and the 64 my great grandfathers. I have also had my grandfathers first gun he bought at age 8, a 26" barrel 94 in 30wcf that was in such disrepair I got rid of it. I had a big bore 94 .356 I bought new in '87 and a big bore 94 .307 but I have sold them off. In fact the 307 just went to the OP.....

Wow! I thought I was the only one with a model 71 and model 64 combo.
Easy to use the pair of them for different hunting seasons: Moose hunting and Whitetail deer hunting

The manual of arms makes the switchover easy peasey

Makes for a hell of a good combo to cover anything a hunter might want to pursue if he's comfortable with the limits of traditional leverguns

This thread is awesome, the discussion of traditional levers.. some beauties poppin up.

Anyone else have Old one or Had old ones?

I always wondered if anyone had actually harvested Game with either Big Bore model from 307 up to 375bb and particularly the on field difference from the 356 & 375 back in the day of course :)

Like my bolt guns for more accuracy and longer range.
I have a lot of FUN with my lever guns though. Working the action and shooting shorter ranges can't be beat.

I have 2 Winchester 1892 in .44 mag
and 5 (!) Marlin 1894 Cowboy octagonal barrel models in various calibers (2x 357/.38, 2x 45 Colt, 1x 44 mag)

I had a 356 I purchased brand new in the 80's. Ballistics were pretty close to the same as my 348 on paper but you can "feel" or "sense" the slight edge the 348 has over the .356 when shooting it.

I like lever guns. Specifically straight-grip Marlins. At present I have 40 Marlin levers. Have at least 2 of every caliber chambered in the 1893's, at least 2 of every caliber chambered in the old 1894's, as well as a good selection of 336's & 1895's.

My 1970 model 444 Marlin has close to 50 black bears to it's credit & my 1895M in 450 Marlin has several more with a few whitetail thrown in. Yep - I like lever guns.

Had a Miroku Winchester 1886 extra light 45-70 gov't (22" bbl) with the half tube mag that only weighed 7 pounds.
It had the tang safety and rebounding hammer and was a real good shooter.
A younger member of our moose gang kept bugging me to buy it and I finally succumbed.
Those iron sights were getting fuzzier in my old eyes every year and I didn't want to scope an '86
Really liked that gun.

You all aren't nice. Now I'm shopping for a lever gun. I spent yesterday playing with a 58 94 32 special.

So far I'm thinking Uberti 1873 357 mag
Some sort of 92 pattern in 357 or 44
Henry case colored 30/30
And maybe a Henry 45/70 all weather

A 1950's 94 32 Special has been my go to whitetail rifle for quite a few years now. I like levers too. Have a Rossi .357 and. Chiapas's .44 and some Savage 99's, including a sweet little 99 TD in 30-30.

Wow just found out that it can't be a 1947 because they only made them until 1922-23. Marlin Model 1893. This one is prob. 1918 with the serial # of D1033?
1953 Winchester model 64 24in barrel, 1987?? Winchester trapper model 94AE 16in. barrel.
