Inspire me with your 300 win mag builds

What bullet do you want to shoot. Hunting or target.

I built mine to load 200 accubound at 3,610 col and 0,050 from riflings in a 28"benchmark and tac300 it was a single shot rifle until I just got a accumag kit 3,775 published data are no longer valids.

I was planning on using the rifle for mostly hunting. I'll be shooting mostly factory ammo through the rifle.....I want to be able to shoot multiple grains so I'm going to go with a 1/10 twist.

Post a picture of your rig!

Just picked my new rig up from the gunsmith this week (it'll be replacing my rt. hand .300wm built on a Savage action).

-KS Arms LAR action (3 lug), Left-hand, integral recoil lug, 20moa base.
-Triggertech Special trigger.
-Insite Arms Heathen muzzle brake.
-JC Custom barrel, 28", 1:9
-AICS 2.0 chassis

.. I'll be testing ELD-X 220gr & 230gr Berger hybrids.

Great looking rifle!
I've been in touch with Jc customs recently. How was your experience with them?
I've also been looking at the heathen brakes from insight arms for a while. Definitely give me an update once you put a few rounds through it!

Will do.

Good/quick communication from JC barrels, lead time for the barrel was longer than first stated.. but the action was as well so they actually arrived on the exact same day.. so it was all good.

Mine is a remington 700 sendero with some upgrades, including a jewell trigger, muzzle brake, and aics detachable mag conversion. It can throw 210-215 gr bullets from 2850-2920 fps. handloaded cartridge lengths of 3.625" It does quite well at distance with those high bc bullets. If you plan on shooting long range i would suggest you do your research and make sure the action you pick can manage the longer cartridge lengths that these projectiles work best. For example i love tikka t3s, but in this type of setup they would be single feed only.

Cheers

I have a stock Savage package gun with the original Bushnell scope that whacked a big mulie that just missed the bottom of the Saskatchewan record book. The exact same rifle fired by another hunter got a nice mulie that did get into the record book.

It's the man not the rifle.

Not setup for reloading, maybe in the future.
For now looking to see other builds people have made, not looking for criticisms as of now...mainly looking for ideas to push forward.

then, I would suggest you go with a factory rifle which can be easyly be upgraded later when you have acquired reloading skills and toasted the factory barrel.

if you plan handloading in the future and want to really get the uptimum performance of the cartridge, choose an action long enough to handle it with heavy bullets seated way high

example, T3 action can handle factory stuff but will be too short to optimise a custom chamber

Okay...if that's the case then could I get a gear list which I will need to start doing reloads for a precision rifle.
Would you recommend buying a kit or sourcing each piece individually?
I was thinking that it might be cheaper to try and find used pieces on here individually.

Look at a Tikka T3 Tactical with muzzle brake. They are available in 223,308 and 300 Win.

I have a 300 Tikka/Tac and with the 1:11 twist it has no problem with bullets in the 208gr range.

Living in Nova Scotia have you considered the 308 Win? Lot of very good factory ammo available like the 168gr Federals the RCMP use . The 300 has far less choices unless you hand load.
