How good is your bullet mfg i.d.?

...so I got a great deal on 30-06 brass, primed and unprimed...but the brass would not chamber to fire off the primers, so I just used the resizer w deprimer pin, and resized well-lubed cases...

...also came with 60 rounds of live ammo...mixed factory and hand loaded...which i pulled...

...there are 4 bullet weights/types, from left to right: 220, 180, 180, and 168 grains

...mfg looks to me to be: hornady, sierra, winchester, and hornady, respectively

...but am a bit confused on the left two with the brass indents below the cannula? ...never seen that before

(is that to produce a whistling sound like you hear in the movie battle scenes, or to confuse the critters you're huntin'?)

...but the brass was undented...unless it's made that way for factory load specs and the brass is pressed in lightly with it?

Just blemished bullets then. I recall a certain retailer at one time selling a certain brand of factory-blemished bullets for cheap. Shot just fine as I recall.

Hence the Id of those bullets being CIL or Imperial ammo from years past.
The two on the left that is.
KKSP is my guess for the first and possible the second as well.
Third one no effing idea and the last appears to my union thug eye to be a Sierra bullet of sort.

Dominion Kling-core 220 & 180 gr. for the first two, 180 Silvertip, and don't know what the last one is... likely Sierra target bullet.

Doesn't the A-Max have a ballistic tip? Looks like a hpbt to me and could be any manufacture. What's the measured length so we can look in our books?

You are correct. The hollow point boat tail does not have a tip and the Amax do.

...i'm inclined to think you are correct...i didn't check all the casing mfgers before pulling the bullets, but overall there is much more imperial and dominion cartridges than the other brands (including some norma and browning brass)

...yeah the one on the right is a 168 30 cal match bullet...

This is correct. The notches give away the KKSP from Dominion/C.I.L. The silvertip is easy. Last one is harder to pin exactly, but probably one of the two. D.
