I took one quick Google to see which Canadian dealers were selling these yet, and the first one that popped up was RDSC.

For $1570!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every promotional video that Sig has posted stated an MSRP of $1050 USD. Have you ever heard of an authorized retailer of a product, selling for 20% ABOVE MSRP? Yes, we all know they're cool guns, but when several US retailers are doing what every retailer on earth does and charges LESS than MSRP, such as several I've seen for $850 USD (or about $1100 CAD), it really makes me wonder about what we have going on up here, and with the distributor for Canada. It's MD Charlton, correct?

What's with the massive gouge? We all know people were getting ripped right off for Glocks until very recently, but Sig's pricing has been pretty level so far.. but now the polymer Sig p320 x5 sells for the same price as a Legion and Stainless Elite p226. It's a plastic gun.

I'm bitter for sure because I want one, and was expecting it to be priced at the very worst, at an accurate conversion of the MSRP at around $1300 CAD. But to see our sellers greasing us for a 20% markup on something that's already marked up.. that's some bad form folks.

US dealers lower their prices for many reasons. Competition being a big reason. Here in Canada, there isn't near as much reason to drop the price. The thing isn't even on a shelf here yet and you are posting about pricing. So, it's going to be obvious to the dealers the demand is high.......another reason not to drop the price.

You need to relax and let the dust settle. The prices will drop when the excitement dies down a little. Remember the pricing on the HK45 a few years ago ??? I believe it was north of 1400 before the large German buy from a few dealers. Its now 999.00 pretty much everywhere.

There was a guy on ee selling one for 800 with 550rds. His ad was up for quite some time. Buy used and save money. I bought my inox for 650 and now its sells for 1g or more. Its fantastic for 650 but not 1g special.

That's not really how it works. Most firearms manufacturers have a single entry point into Canada. Retailers sell the guns for a pretty standard markup based on what they can get them for. If the price difference is huge it's either because the manufacturer is marking it up before it crosses the border of the distributor is marking it up before it goes out to the dealers.

You are assuming the Distributors are getting the same price bracket as the guys in the states are. I would imagine Canadian distributors pay a bit more.....not counting exchange rate.

Marketing 101. You're going to be careful about where you price your various product lines so they don't compete for the exact same buyer. If the P320 X5 lives up to its X5 name in terms of how it feels and shoots, then you are going to price it so sales of P226s don't just dry up.

I don't own a polymer framed gun, but if it shot like an X5, I'd consider it based on price and performance, not what it's made of.

Incorrect.

I said that if there's gouging it's either by the distributor or before it gets to them as those are the only 2 places someone could do it without it being blatantly obvious to the buying public.

To be honest I do not know what the procedures, policies and what firearms M.D. Charlton brings in. Maybe I have even bought a few items (because I do not know who and what) from the dealers that they distribute to, but my experience with M.D. a number of years ago was not the best..in fact of all the suppliers I was utilizing to run my small retail store M.D. was the worst. Poor customer service, a Manager who had more attitude than a wolverine caught in a trap and as this post originally started, higher prices than I could get buying the items off of other retailers..even from the states. As Dilligaf has stated, save yourself some cash and other potential aggravation and purchase items from such EXCELLENT suppliers such as IRG, Wolverine Supplies etc. Just my .02.

1050USD(for MSRP) is 1357CAD, so if they actually paid that price to get them to the border (doubted), that's maybe $200 between importer/distributor and retailer.

Thats not including Taxes and fees or any other middlemen that might be around. Overhead for appeasing gov regs/employees etc is a burden that we must pay for if we want LGS to be open.

P320 itself is overpriced. Think about it, if the grip is no longer a firearm but a part that can be purchased for $40 and the most expensive part of the gun is the slide, which requires milling and so forth and the frame, which is nothing but a few stamped and bent metal parts, how is p320 not $200 tops?

You can use this argument on any polymer gun...?

It's a free market. If you don't like their price, don't buy it. Or if you think you can get them cheaper elsewhere engage in some arbitrage and bring in a bunch and make some money on the deal. Your choice.

Not really, most other polymer guns have much more complex handles, granted they are overpriced too but p320 grip is extremely basic, badically a hollow shell and no backstrap options. My cordless drill has more complexity than this overhyped, overpriced gun.

Overpriced ?? Its a Sig. Show me one that isn't.

Overhyped ?? You mean other than the great Reviews calling it a fine shooting Pistol ? Please elaborate.

I take it you have not seen how much a ZEV or Salient Arms Glocks go for...
