Interested in people's opinions on what the best choice is for an affordable short-barrelled shotgun (14" or less)?

I know there are some great options in the $1k+ range, but I'm really just looking for a backup bush-type gun.

There seem to be so many brands/models out there (Turkish, Chinese, etc.). I've already got some high-quality shotguns, so I'm looking for something cheap for this purpose.

Something with aftermarket compatibility, removable chokes, etc. would be nice. But not essential.

Find an old wingmaster for 250$ and take some time to refinish the wood and put on a 14" norinco barrel that can be found for 100$

and you get a perfect shorty for less than the price of a new POS Express

Take a look at our Hatsan Marine Guard 14'' and the Hatsan Aimguard 14''. These are great all around shortys that come with 5 + 1 capacity, fibre optic front sights and a 5 year warranty.

Specs can be found here http://www.hatsan.com.tr/en_escort_aimguard.html

Was gonna mention the hatsan as well. I know Seraphim Armoury make a short barreled mag fed one, I think Bullseye carrys them.

Or if you wanna look cool pick up a Rossi SxS coacj gun from crappy tire :p

Dominion Arm Grizzly 12.5 tube feed, $300-$350

^I really don't think there is a better answer than this for the money. I'm a Remington guy, I currently have a couple of 870s (Police and a 20ga. "youth" Express, laminate) and have owned at least one Wingmaster. Wingmasters/Police are great guns in my opinion, Expresses very decent, the Grizzlies are very robust but rougher versions of the same thing. They do smooth out with time, anything 870 I've ever tried to use on a Grizzly either worked, or could be made to work VERY easily, etc. Yes, I'd rather have DILLIGAF's nice-looking build...but it's not impossible to find a used tube-fed, bead sight, 12.5" Grizzly for around $200. I did about 2 years ago here in the EE. Remember, they used to sell NEW for not much more than that, and there are guys out there just wanting their money back. Put a WTB ad up, see what happens. No slight to the CGN sponsor that sells them, but as much as I like my Grizzly...I'm not sure they're worth (new) what the asking prices are. Just my opinion. If you're spending that much, go the easy Wingmaster build route.

I've never shot a Hatsan, but my LGS sells a pile of them and they tell me they have allot of happy customers as a result.
