is .40 dead?

Depends, some people love it, some not so much.... My Glock 22 will always be my go-to... Always been reliable and fun to shoot... I like it much more than any of my 9mm's

I'm mistakenly picking up less and less .40 S&W brass (as 9mm) at the ranges I shoot at. Whether that is less people shooting it or more people reloading it I don't know.

Yep....you should all get out of collecting .40 brass......more for me...my go to caliber...love it.

This, I rarely see .40 brass laying around anymore, even on our practical nights there can be up to 20 people and no one is shooting a .40, mostly 9mm with the occasional .45

.40 is far from dead
Just ask anyone that competes in a sport called IPSC
If it wasn't for that sport, the caliber would not see nearly as much action as it is right now.
As 9mm is the caliber that dominates IPSC still

If already have a 9mm and a 45ACP, a 40S&W is redundant.

Maybe for yourself I suppose but not in general by any means.. I have a 9mm, .40 and a 45 and I use them all differently and for differnt purposes. I guess one could say that any more than one calibre is redundant but we all have preferences.

.40S&W is dead right now because it's more expensive. If it becomes reasonable cheap again you'll see it roaming the firing ranges like a zombie...
Good point, it's definitely not a cheap round.. I'm just starting to reload .40 and .45 after all these years of climbing ammo prices.
