25 Cal V-Max - experience , love or hate?

Not a Hornady fan but looking to load these in a 25/06 for varmint/target.

What is the consensus out there?

They finicky or useable?

They are very useable bullets, Shot them in a few 25-06 and one 257AI. I always found them to shoot better then the nosler 85gr BT for some reason.

I was hitting 3950 fps out of my 25-06 with them. Shot very well and got there in a hurry. Used a very stout load of h4350

Loaded the same load for 2 rifles. Both shot the same, very well. Used IMR 4831 with 120 Hornady 120gr. HP. Dropped 1 oz. lower then max. Just under 2900

I've used the 75gr vmax and also the 75gr hollow points. Sub moa with handloads in my savage axis and drops varmints in their tracks

I load them to 3500. They are awesome. Not fur friendly most of the time. Very accurate and reliable.

On a side note I lent my rifle and ammo to a friend. Some vmax loads and the hunting loads were interlocks. My buddy mixed them up and shot a deer at 70 yards with a vmax in the chest. Results were surprisingly impressive. I'm not recommending them for big game

They really ruin crows and foxes

120 Hornady HP stupid accurate with my sako 25-06 ...Push these with IMR 4350 though. Shoot best at max...inexpensive bullets with awesome results. Killed many decent whitetail with this combo as well..

25'06, with a stiff load of Varget will launch 75gr. Vmax's at 3775fps.

Shoots very well averaging .5 MOA.

Dumps coyotes with authority, and doesn't ruin pelts like a 85 Nosler bt will, but you'll still get some nasty exits, from time to time.

Depending on make and model of gun some work good and some don't like at all......
My browning bar semi .... shoots them very well .... not the fastest around 3100 + but accurate.... and very fun!!!!!
