Another CZ shadow question . LOL

I have a new CZ shadow 1 and it shoots at the six o'clock sight picture? ( to hit a six inch circle,I have to put the bottom of the circle in line with my sights).

What do you guys prefer, six o'clock picture or having the front dot covering the target.

Should I get adjustable sights or stick with the fixed?

Adjustable will allow me to cover the target with my front sight.

Will be doing a BB course soon, with ISPC to follow.... hopefully:)

I prefer a 6 O'clock hold but that's just 35+years of me shooting that way. It all depends on what you're used to or prefer in the end.

I prefer that every firearm shoot to point-of-aim. Anything else becomes extra-complicated when you're in the business of engaging targets of variable sizes from variable distances.

While your pistol and sights will do just fine for your upcoming Black Badge course, and they will, in the long run it is to your advantage to have your IPSC pistol shooting to point-of-aim.

P.S.: Have you visited pistol-training dot com, for the drills? <https://pistol-training.com/drills>

I can't stand the 6 o'clock hold and I only like the dot/bead covering the target for my shotguns. I prefer "point of aim"/"center hold" for pistols.

I purchased a couple CZs and both shot a little high (6 o'clockish). For one of them (75B) I used the Dawson front sight calculator to figure out what height front sight to buy. (Didn't purchase from Dawson because they don't ship to Canada.) That pistol shoots great now.

For the other (SP-01) I bought a front and adjustable rear set, because it's shooting high and little left. I need to do a bit of fitting/filing of the rear dovetail for that one to work.

Have fun.

Dawson Sights are available @ https://www.freedomventures.ca/products/parts-dawson

Obviously some sights will be a special order if not in stock but FV's can handle that

CZ's are typically zeroed fro 25 yards with their sights from factory.
I've heard of business' in the states filing the back sight down for customers before selling them.

I personally purchased an adjustable sight for my shadowline because it bugged me so much. To each his own.

ya mine is shooting in sight image one. I prefer sight image 2.
At 25,15 yards

If my hold was image 1 like yours, that would drive me nuts. Order up an adjustable rear sight from one of the sponsors or from ipscstore.eu. BUT make sure it matches your front sight 'cause if you get an adjustable rear and it's bottomed out and still shooting like image 1, you'd have made zero progress.

Might be cheaper to replace the front sight with a taller one if you like your current rear sight.

Cheapest option is try different ammo/loads/bullet weights and see if that improves the aiming point and keeps it accurate.

What weight bullet are you shooting? When I played around with trying 115, 125 and 147gn ammo I found that the 147gn tended to print a touch higher than the sights. It shot slightly softer when reloaded for IPSC minor but between printing higher and the added cost for bullets in quantity I went back to the 125 which shot pretty much spot on using the #2 sight picture.

Of course if you're already shooting 125's and it's still printing high and forcing you to use the #1 hold then that would be a good reason to fix this. As mentioned this "6 o'clock hold" only works well for given size targets at the same distance each and every time. The #2 picture is what you want for various targets at various distances.

Since it's technically shooting high your options are a taller front sight or a shorter rear sight. Being a DIY sort of guy myself and knowing that the rear sights on the Shadow are quite bulky anyway my first inclination would be to file down the rear sight a few strokes to remove about a business card thickness of metal and try again. Repeat if needed or spot touch the filed area with some good cold blue. But a folks that shudder at this idea and would simply buy the next taller front sight and call it a day.

I prefer either the taller front sight or the DIY filed down rear to adjustable sights because the adjustables are bulkier and have more edges that can snag on my clothing when using the gun in matches that involve holster draws. But if I were only using the gun for plinking and casual bullseye shooting then an adjustable would not be a bad idea.

Mine shoots like yours does.
It was designed as an ipsc gun and I love the way it shoots. The rear sight works well to rack on if necessary.
If you want to use it like a bullseye gun, I would recommend changing the sights to a finer blade but more importantly, an adjustable rear.

I don't get that, you have to aim under the target,in order to hit it.
Seems to take more effort.

Mine shot like yours. I put an LPA front and rear sight on it. They are high off the gun, but have a great sight picture (always liked 3 dots and not a fan of F.O.).

Thanks everyone, pretty sure I'm going to order s set of adjustable sights from select,
They're not the cheapest, but they're the nearest to me.

I had an M&P 9 with the three white dots,
I blacked out the back dots with black nail polish and found it to be a big improvement.
Much faster.
