Starting to reload 357/38 Spl

I know you're using 130gr bullets ,but 148 HBWC loaded upside down mushroom to .75 at 800-900 fps........fun for water filled pop cans etc.Skeeter Skeleton of Gun + Ammo used to use these for manstopper loads in a 2" ankle gun while working as a US Border Patrol agent. Harold

I've been using SR-4756 for 130gr. lead 38 spl. Works well for CAS. I'll try and check how many grains I'm using and post later.

Do you already have powders? Probably not, given your question.

38 is low pressure. 357 is high pressure.

For my low pressure accuracy loads I use TiteGroup or 231.

For high velocity I use 296.

If you want a powder that will do both, try Power Pistol or Universal.

I have titegroup and have loaded some 38 spl so far.

I just got a Ruger gp100 a couple months ago. I put together a couple very accurate loads after ladder testing before my range shut down due to fire hazzard (damn smokers).

158 gr campro's , 6.4 gr w231, .357 federal brass, cci sp primer.

158 gr campro, 9.0 gr hs-6, .357 federal cases, federal spm primers, heavy crimp.

I know these are more of medium powders for this cartridge, but I had them on hand and so far so good.

These two loads are more accurate than both the factory 158 gr jsp american eagle and cci blazzer I tried.

My favourite load for my GP100 is .357, 158 CamPro, Fed SP Mag Primer, 16.2 gr H110, heavy Crimp. Accurate, and really smacks the steel.

I use Trail boss and the 158gr Bullet Barn cast bullet in a 38spl case, and accuracy was excellent in my Freedom Arms. Recoil was also very mild.
