I just read through the migratory bird regs and I couldn't find anything that mentions hunting with bows (maybe i missed it?).
Could someone point me in the right direction?
15 (1) Subject to subsections (4) and (5) and section 23.1, no person shall hunt a migratory bird
(a) except with a long bow and arrow or with a shotgun not larger than number 10 gauge
Check your hunting Regs. where it pertains to Migratory Game birds...
Use Blunts and Flew Flews....

Don't think a blunt is a good idea for a goose. Sharp Broadheads kill.
Then I wager you best read up on the hunting Regs and Migratory Game birds then...
The federal regulations do not speak to type of arrow head but I think I would have to agree with Calgarychef that a sharp broadhead is the way to go.

Ok guys, here is my take on this. I recall watching a TV Show 40 some years ago called the Red Fischer Show at Scuttle Butt Lodge in Ontario. They did an episode on hunting Canada Geese anf they used blunts and flew flew's and please the spelling is incorrect , but no idea how it is spelled so please accept that. They shot sseveral geese and everyone of them hit the ground and recovered with the use of a Dog and dispatched accordingly. Secondly, using a broad head ...well I revert to the 10 basic rules of firearms safety and one that stands out is be sure of your shot and whats behind it. Broad head passing through the goose or missing completely... Please do not read that I am lecturing either of your two opinions.. I am not. I am just stating my interpretation of the two trains of though who differ from mine on the use. As for the Federal Hunting Regs I still suggest tht one read the Provincial Regs and the use then.... Tight Groups and Good Hunting ! Rob

The good common sense rules about being aware of what lies beyond your target will apply regardless of the broadhead being used. I certainly wouldn't advocate using a blunt or field tip for the reason it allows you to disregard such rules.
Given what we all know about how body shots with pellets (from a shotgun) tend to perform, that's why I think most folks would advocate using a bladed broadhead in order to ensure a quick and efficient kill.
As for provincial regulations, they may further provide guidance as to what can and cannot be used. I'd be interested in seeing some that speak to hunting migratory birds with a bow specifically, since the subject is firstly governed by the federal Migratory Birds Convention Act and its regulations, and any provincial/territorial regulations are going to be subordinate.
Its flu-flu, btw.![]()
Hunt them on the ground with broad heads. Call the flock in, let them land, take your shot with the bow (yes this is legal)
