358 Shooting Times Alaskan

As I said before I'm a big fan of the sta but was having brass issues with it so on a long drive home from the Yukon by myself I came up with the brain storm to build a 35/338 lapua improved, it's now built but haven't been out to shoot it yet. I do think it will post some impressive numbers.

No doubt. Bevan King's 35-404 IMP has been driving 250 gr bullets over 3200 fps for more than thirty years, and your case holds even more powder. :)

...been using the light for caliber ttsx/tsx....These light for caliber ttsx have been very good for me at any angle and shot distance...

Game shot always at close range? The 200gr TSX b.c. is quite low at 0.284 and loses speed rather quickly regardless of how fast it starts. A 225gr TSX which has a higher (but still rather low) b.c. of 0.359 launched at 3100 fps will have more speed at 150 yards than the 200gr TSX launched at 3200 fps.

Note the 150 fps advantage at the muzzle of the 200gr TSX/3200 fps/358 STA over the 200gr TSX/3050 fps/350 RM is reduced to only a 119 fps advantage at 300 yards.

Cutting Edge Bullets makes a 35 caliber 340gr MTH (Match/Tactical/Hunting) projectile. Ballistic coefficient is 0.92. The 358 STA could likely launch these at about 2400 fps. Note that a minimum twist rate of 1:10 is required for proper stabilization. Energy at 500 yards is nearly 3000 ft-lbs.

I have the 416 caliber 340gr MTH loaded in my 416's (0.72 b.c.).
