Cabelas Sale - Federal Champion Target .22 LR Ammunition $3.49 / 50 rnd

I've ordered ammo from them once. Shipping was free with promo code. Wait was excruciating however as they, as they told me anyway, call to confirm you are licenced to buy. Pics of licence/licence number wasn't good enough.

I see we all have different experiences with them.. They never called me for license since you put it in the order form.

They didn't call me for the licence, they called CFO to confirm that the info I had already provided them was correct, up-to--date and to ensure my buying 1000rds of .22 was okay. I was told they do this with all ammo/firearms purchases.

Must be because of quantity as I never bought a lot.

They said they do it for all guns and ammo purchases. I waited about 10 days before they shipped. They could have been blowing smoke I guess. I'm not sure I'd consider 1000rds of .22 enough to qualify as quantity...

I ordered few bricks and some new electronic hearing protection, I really do Like the Walkers Razor earmuffs. They are also on sale this week...

Hopefully this ammo shoots well, It is by far the cheapest 22lr Available that I can find right now.

I plan to pick this ammo up later in the week when they have their Hometown Hero's event for some discounts on a .22 barrel rod and a jag/brush set and whatever else is to go to pass. I'm not in the market but Safes are an excellent buy at this time from Cabela's if you are Military,Police/Fire/EMS/First Responder. Not many Businesses in Canada offer promotions like Cabela's does in that regard.

Doesn't function worth a damn in my S&W 41

at least 4 failure to extracts per mag for the 8 or 10 mags that I ran

And this gun is flawless with CCI and S&B Standard velocity

Case either slips the claw and remains in the chamber or ends up trapped sideways by the slide.

Low round count pistol too, so a bad extractor is unlikely.

Is mostly reliable in the Ruger MK-2 and shoots well enough in the Model 17

Annoying since I bought it specifically for the M41

As the title says,

40 grain LRN and i believe the velocity is 1240. Works out to about $0.7 per round (about 8 cents with tax)

There's free shipping if you fill your cart with more than $99 and enter promo (At top of main page)

Hey all, it's on sale again.. for and even LOWER price. $2.99 per box/50 ... I will add, the last batch I got, the odd bad primer.. but all in all, a good deal. By the way, it works amazing in a Smith and Wesson Victory.

Also the AE brand is on sale too. not sure what the difference is.

The link above is still active

I had poor results with the Champion ammo when on sale last month. Will pass at $2.99 as really it is only usable in my bolt action rifle. This ammo will fail to eject 60-80% of the time in my 10/22 takedown, GSG1911 and 100% fail to leave the chamber from GSG15.

This ammo fires well out my JW25a Norinco but has on one occasion become stuck in the chamber/FTF

Looks like there unloading I won't be buying anymore.

I bought 4 bricks last time it was on sale and had good results in my CZ 452 bolt action rifle. It is not higher velocity 510 Federal like the image shows but lower velocity so it will not work well in semis.

Thanks for the heads up, my .22 can be fussy, this stuff fairly decent?

No. Lots of variation in casing size and variability in loads. Last couple of boxes I bought would have one subsonic load out of 15 or 25 rounds. It was my go to ammo for a long time, but lately, on par with Remington Thunder-bolt.

The small diameter of some of the cases blow by in my bolt action, and the hot gas and powder residue escapes out of the back end of the bolt, and hits me right in the face. Thus, I am not a fan.

Federal Automatch is one of the best for uniformity, consistency and accuracy in all of my firearms.

bought 5000rnds on fathers day. I can concur on the 60-80% failure rate. All types too. Ftf, fte, not even firing what so ever. I ran it through a 597 hb which almost never has problems with anything except winchester 333.

I also ran it through my 10/22 with about the same failure rate, lastly I put the failed shots through and old remington 341 that I have. Most didn't work. I took them back to cabelas the next day and told them they ruined our fathers day shoot. They exchanged the ammo for a mix of different brands as I would not accept a swap for new boxes. I picked up a few boxes of M-22, thunder bolts and browning .22lr.
I hear a lot of people ripping on the thunder bolt but I have good luck with them. The m-22 ammo is always pretty good and the browning kinda sucks. I would stay away from the deal, even for a bolt gun.

...I wonder if the American Eagle stuff for the same price would be the same results (and for others with the rest of the problems listed in other posts)

To be honest I only tried it in a savage mk 2 with no problems, other than slight disappointment in the groupings compared to CCI of the same weight and velocity. But thats why the cost more. But in my target pistol, SW22 Victory, been winning my clubs weekly shoot for three weeks now. I think of the 3 bricks I burnt so far, I had 5-6 rounds bad primers. I'll take the good with the bad. I guess it depends how well the machines are calibrated in the factory that day, lol.

I can't imagine that they would be much worse, and still have it for sale. LOL
