Looking to possibly buy a Walther PPQ M2 5"

Is it normal to see this much of a price difference in stores? Lowest one I found was $780 in Ontario, and most expensive one in BC at $1180.

That's a $400 difference!

what is different in the match 5"?

Cold hammer forged barrel.
Fiber optic front sight with adjustable rear sight.
Blue trigger.
Optic ready - includes 3 mounting plates.
Comes with a deluxe case and 3 magazines.

Walther reps at 2017 SHOT told me the barrels are exactly the same. Q5 match has the friction resistant blue coating on the trigger....when pulling several models could not notice a difference. Walther reps said that he Q5 should get smoother faster with use....but they hadn't noticed any difference between the PPQ's and Q5's.

I have the regular PPQ M2 5". I've had the Sig P320, HK SFP 9 ( I have HK disease) Glock (still own), P226, Sig PRO (Still have them). By far the PPQ is the most accurate. It almost shoots as good as my Sig X5's.

If you want a plastic, striker fired gun the PPQ / Q5 match are the most accurate out of the box. I would dare say that they will out shoot the P320 X5 match. I watched a Youtube review and the author said he preferred the PPQ and if could only have one gun he'd drop the P320 X5. AND the PPQ is on the NRA duty pistol lists for both PPC and Service Pistol.

I doubt PPQ's are inherently more accurate than the other guns mentioned. More than likely YOU are more accurate with the PPQ. I've owned/own a PPQ, Glocks, M&P's, CZ Shadow etc. but until I fired the Ruger SR9/9E I didn't truly understand how the right handgun can make you a better shooter. There's nothing fancy about the Rugers but I wouldn't trade them for anything currently available, they just work for me.

P.S. Before a $hit storm ensues I do understand that SOME handguns ARE inherently more accurate, I just don't believe the PPQ falls into the category of firearm.

Triggers play a big factor in accuracy. As far as striker pistols go, the Walther trigger is exceptional.

I think you missed part of 4n2t0's point - the true accuracy of a pistol is independent of the trigger, however, most shooters will shoot more accurately with a better trigger.

Did the Walther factory say the PPQ M2 barrels are not hammer forged? And only the Q5's are?

I also shoot PPC competition to 50 meters, accuracy is very important. Please come to a match if you think a HK VP9 or Sig P320 is more accurate than the Walther PPQ / Q5. I would like to be proven wrong. Funny thing with many people who post on gunnutz, never seem to see them on match day. Not too many pistol shooters testing their guns for accuracy at 50 meters either.

I also find the Walther PPQ M2 5" extremely accurate. Only handgun I have to rival or better it on accuracy would be my Shadow 2's...with Shadow being a close second.

Love the Shadow's great accurate guns. My S&W PPC-9 is the most accurate, X5 X Series a close second. Regular X5 is very good and as I mentioned before this Walther PPQ, inexpensive with stepped barrel is very close. A buddy shot my PPQ for the first time this last winter. He shot the smallest group at 25 meters that he has ever shot with a handgun. He is also a very accomplished shooter with easily over 100 k fired through his various handguns.
