Good day guys, just wanted to share you you my very first Browning shotgun. I have been trying to find a good upland gun for the last few years. Moving away from my Wingmaster I have spent a little time buying and trying out a few different SxS's and O/U's. I think I finally found a good match for me. Here is my recently acquired 1959 manufactured Browning Superposed Lightning in 20ga. Originally came full and mod, it has been opened up to both imp cyl. Wood is in unbelievable condition gluing is probably 85% to 90%. She is light, locks up tight and shoulders perfectly!

One question I have for you O/U guys, would you shoot steel dove loads through this gun?

the problem with the steel is that it is harder than lead...it doesn't compress in the barrels choke as much as lead does.....with newer shotguns with chokes...if its a Mod for lead and full for steel......so if you were to shoot dove loads out of the gun...if your barrels are rated both imp. cyl.....than the steel loads will pattern like a mod or imp mod...hard to say its not my gun...but the shot is in the cup down the barrel and dove load is small shot #6 or #7...i don't think it'll blow it up mang ! hope that helps a little ....not an o/u guy myself but i understand the chokes and sizes and such... enjoy

Nice Superposed! That gun will out last you, and if the barrels have both been opened to IC I wouldn't hesitate to shoot steel dove loads out of it, the shot is small enough it's not going to do any damage. Congrats and enjoy!

Congrats, nice looking Browning. You could possibly shoot steel or why not try some Kent Bismuth? Depending on your budget and proper shot size available.

Yup, looks purrty fer sure !
Go to the Browning Web site and do some research there as they are the experts.
I had an early 80's Citori I thought was perfect.
3'' Mag, F/M 28'' barrels and had the full reamed to mod. and a mid bead installed .
I shot some steel and some first generation Bizmuth through it and the steel killed the ducks, but Bizmuth bounced off more than a few Mallards (under 35yrds)
Became disappointed in my skills with it and flogged it.
I tell you this because I read what Browning had to say about Steel Shot in those guns... wouldnt hesitate to do it to an Mid 70's through to when they started to install chokes in their guns.

I won't be shooting a lot of steel. I don't do a lot of Dove hunting but I do enjoy going for a walk around the fields with a shotgun. Probably be less then a box of steel a year, mostly bought this for grouse and a little bit of trap shooting.

I tend to buy Brownings as they fit me well. I have a Citori Feather Lightning 20g, a Superposed 12g and just bought the new A5 Sweet16 last week. I would not shoot steel through yours.
