.22 rifle identification

Hey everyone. I found this .22 that is going to be at an estate sale soon and no identifation was provided by the seller. Looks like possibly a Gevarm A6 to me but not for sure.

Any idea from fellow members would

If it fires from open bolt it is Gevarm

That looks like a late model 60's-70's vintage Savage gill gun. There should be a model number on the left side of the barrel.

The bolt has an extractor, so I don't think it's a Gevarm.

Those slots in the receiver -- one ahead of the bolt on the right side and two on the left side -- suggest that it's a "gill gun" like the Savage 6 or Stevens 87.

Googling on "gill gun two gills" returns some hits on the Springfield Savage 187, like this one:

All the 187's I can find on the first couple of pages of Google images are tube magazines, so I don't know what yours with the detachable mag would be.

But those slots in the action really make me think this is some kind of Savage or Stevens.

Hard to believe that are no other stampings anywhere aside from " Shoots .22 Long & Long Rifle". Maybe ask for better pics.

It does appear to be of the Savage/Springfield make but that extractor looks like Marlin.

Savage/Stevens/Springfield. I have a Stevens 85 with a clip magazine, but it has the old style knob on the back of the receiver.

There were umpteen variations of the old "giller" rifle. Many were made for other companies to put their name on. Take a look at the Hoosier cross refernece chart and you will see what I mean.

I have about 15 or so of various versions. One neat thing about them - if you hold the trigger back after firing, the bolt will stay open. Not sure what that feature would be good for, but it is neat nonetheless.

I like th'ol Gill/clackety clack guns. As suggested it could be a Savage/Stevens/Springfield but that extractor isn't like any I've seen on one. They were also made by other manufacturers too. A box magazine that will sling s, l, and lr? Make certain it's with the rifle.
