I've been a fan of the Hi-Point carbine for some time, and have owned three of them at different times. Of the three, I've never had a failure to feed, extract etc. They've been absolutely reliable, and a pile of fun. But they aren't the best looking guns. So I decided to do some mods on this one, a 45acp version. Attached is a file photo the way they come, and another photo after the changes.

I cut off the front of both the upper and lower stock. Moved the front site back, into an inlet I cut in the stock. Then machined two bushings to fit over the barrel, and drilled and tapped them for lock screws. Stopped by my local machine shop to pick up some tubing appropriate for the faux sound moderator. Cut out some end caps for it, that just fit over the bushings. Plasma welded the bushings into the end caps, and the end caps onto the tubing. Sand blasted the sound moderator, and with a splash of matte black, she was ready to go back together.

When I get around to it, I will likely Armacoat the stock in Magpul Flat Earth, to give the gun some contrast. And maybe distress the coatings to give it the battle worn appearance. But this is enough for today. Oh, and as a matter of interest, my total cost for the gun with 2 mags, was $377 delivered from Prophet River. Plus $4 for the tubing, so my total cost is $381.

If only they made a barrel a little longer... Not sure why it's such a big problem for them to add a couple inches

I have used a 9mm and a 40 in CQB competition. Works well. heavy gun = no recoil.

I don't doubt they would perform well in that role. As you say, not much recoil, and very accurate as well. I've found that removing the but please springs actually helps you stay on target, and speeds up successive shots

Not bad at all. Looks kinda futuristic with the tube. I guess it will look even better when coated in the magpul colors. Why only the stock?

But again, it's still a Hi-Point...
