I had it figured that Turkeys were big enough, and well armed, that they had little to fear from most predators. after all, they can just fly if they want.
So, I was sitting out on the front porch, watching five Hummingbirds fight over the feeder, and enjoying a morning coffee. There was a huge crash, sounded like a big branch fell from a tree, and then a hen turkey appeared wailing like a sick hound. (if a hound spoke turkey) and running like hell to get under our porch. Another bird appeared right behind, about the same size. it took flight, and just as the turkey was moving out of my line of sight below the edge of the porch window, hit it again, with a hell of a smack. I got up and went to see, and there on the ground, fifteen feet from the porch sat a rather stunned looking juvenile Golden Eagle. The turkey made her escape out the back, and vanished in the long grass. The eagle, opened it's wings, gave about three flapps, and glided more than a hundred yards to the edge of the bush.
after waiting for a bit, say half an hour, I went to check on the turkey. Wouldn't want it to go to waste now would we?
The turkey flushed out of the grass exactly where it went in, and was never seen again.
Tough birds turkeys. Took two hits from that eagle. I doubt it would have made it if the eagle had been full grown though.

I thought you were going to say the hummingbirds ran them off.

I found in the bush once where something had taken down and eaten multiple turkeys in a small clearing.

So the eagle ####ed the hummingbird or was it the turkey ? Please clarify.

The Hummingbird buzzed the young Eagle and the Turkey was stunned by the Eagle being buzzed by the Hummingbird.
J Y C was trying to finish his coffee , but he thought the turkey was going to go to waste and thought it might be sporting to let the Hummingbird deal with the Turkey.
Ahh hell, I dont know other than J Y C had a great day in his back yard bird watchin.
