Too Pretty to shoot? Collect it or hunt it....need your opinion!

Imho if you want to collect guns and get a return stick to rare winchesters where there are a limited number available and plenty of collectors. I think this ruger is a better hunting rifle than collector. Good luck with your choice

Ditto I have done exactly that - Had a rifle that with a beautiful wood stock but knew I would not enjoy the hunt worried about banging up the stock in the wet bush we going to hunt in so I purchased a synthetic stock. I had a great time hunting with it because I was no longer concerned about it and knew I could always put it back in its wooden stock
 
I just picked up a Winchester/Miroku 71 Deluxe with some fairly nice wood.

If things work out I'll be on a job in a general moose season zone.

I have no problem taking a nice rifle out.... if it gets a scratch won't bother me for a second.
 
Thats like not making love to woman because she is too beautiful. Hunt that rifle, but caress it after every hunt with some good gun oil on the metal surfaces and some some good wood oil on the walnut. Stainless synthetic is great, but blued steel and walnut are better.
 
Its a ruger, hunt it, its imo the epitome of a working mans gun. This is akin to my 1/2 ton is to pretty to drive in the bush to get firewood. IMO the engraving and weave are a bit of an eyesore on an otherwise very nice rifle.

Grabbed a Browning Model 71 Thirty years ago, it has clocked in many Bush Hours..
 
After hearing your commentary on the rifle, I would not take it into the field. Beautiful rifle, BUT I would take it to the range ocassionally to shoot and be careful transporting it.
