help me pick a striker-fired wonder-9

I own a bunch of different poly 9s.

The Glocks got the 3.5 poiund trigger bar. $10

the M&Ps got the APex $150

Both perform well in my hands.

But the one that shoots best under time pressure in competition is the FNS.
 
It's not striker fired but the Grand Power is a sweet shooting plastic fantastic hammer gun.. :)
PPQ Navy off off the E.E. or the HK equivalent same place would be close to your budget.
Sounds like the PPQ larger paddles might suit you better...

Bummer with the German guns is expensive magazines but it sounds like you don't need 5 mags and some on the EE come with an extra.
 
I agree with those who recommend the FNS9. It is the most underrated polymer pistol in the market, IMO.

When I first shot my FNS9L while it still belonged to a buddy, I was amazed at its build quality (stainless slide among other features), ergonomics, overall feel so very much like the 1911 and its accuracy.

I bought mine used from my buddy and he never had a FTFire, Feed and Eject in about a thousand rounds.

I like my Glock 17RTF2 but the FNS9 is my 9mm polymer pistol of choice.
 
I shoot and compete with both a Glock 17 Gen 3 and an FNS 9L.
I really like the Glock, but I like the FNS just a little bit more.
For a lefty, I'd seriously look at the FNS, especially if your not too concerned with after market parts availability.
 
I am told the mc 28 is a nice improvement over the mp 9.....great price point too. polymer with 3 different backstraps and can use cz mags...or, if you like steel, what about a jericho 941 ? Having said that, if the op is really familiar with the 1911 there are a lot of choices in the $650 range in both .45 and 9mm.

Of course there ARE a lot of quality used pistols on the ee from both dealers and folks on here....some very nice "safe queens" that cost in excess of a g note are often advertised. Keep your options open; after all its your hard earned cash.
 
If you can, rent one or more of these at a range. The Glock 17 for example is a great firearm, simple, reliable, lots of aftermarket but not everyone shoots it that well. Some do, some don't. Best to try before you buy.
 
That Gen 4 Glock 17 with the nickle boron finish that arms east is selling would probably be on my short list. Looks good and the price is right.
 
Yes pretty good deal. New Gen 3s at Nordic Marksman on EE for $580 also good deal. Ammo will be a little more $ but very easy to find at least.

Unless it's completely beat I'd be all over it. No finger grooves, no rail. That's a pretty gun. I also believe a Gen1,2,or 3 Slide will fit the frame which means you can still have it in 9mm should you choose.
