I would check out the NEW Stainless Savage lightweight hunter.
40 inch OAL. 20 inch barrel. 5.6 lbs.
7mm-08 would be my choice loaded with 140gr Accubond.

Why would you decide that you wanted what is essentially the same rifle? Sure it's a bit lighter and you'll get a little more velocity but not a significant amount or performance difference. I would have suggested that, if you want a different rifle, get the T3x Lite and go with a different cartridge in order to cover more range. If you want a backcountry rifle why not get a Superlight in 7mm-08 or, better yet, a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 7mm-08 which runs 4 lb 13oz without scope? If you want light that is probably a smarter way to go. I couldn't find the weight on the Tikka Superlight but my inclination would be to go with the Kimber.

You make a very good point Uisge, that's exactly the information I was looking for! Thanks! i'll look into it!
Wow thats a beauty!
Tikka T3 ss in 300WSM is good. If you're in mostly close country, an -06 or 308 will do just fine as well. Vortex scopes are excellent and the warranty is the best in the market. NO questions asked fix or replace!! All the others have limited warranties and they suck! 3-9 vortex would be good, but the 3 -12 Diamondback HP would be my choice.
