BCL102 Range Review, SECOND RANGE TRIP POST 123!!!

What exactly did you modify on the mag Jay? The follower?

I think Ryan @ SFRC said it best when a member asked if the mag was being modified to fit the BCL102. The short answer is no it is not.

They are not being made to fit the 102, the notch is being changed to be in spec. It is also why I posted other magazines for comparison.

Ryan

And the exact location that needed to be fixed, was on the left side of the spine of the mag body.

The one on the left has the rounded off corner. The one on the right has not been fixed.

Agreed, the factory trigger has to go @ some point! I'm thinking of going to the A2 fixed stock, but I will wait to see what others do.

The other ammo grouped decent. Varying between 1.5 and 3 inches. I fired some 3 shot groups & others I fired 5, 10 & even more rounds @ a target. Ya, it was half a$$ed, but I had so much fun doing it!

Cheers
Jay

3 inch grouping doesn't sound too appealing at the price point

I sure hope you are not taking this range report as an indicator of the actual accuracy potential of this rifle...

If you took any AR308/AR10 with the features this rifle has it would be minimum $500 more, and restricted. This thing is a bargain for what it is.

I'm not a great shot. And the trigger is gritty, heavy AND needs to be replaced.

The larger groups I shot were strings of 5, 10 and more rounds. And not necessarily slow, careful shots.

Once I printed decent groups with the Norma Match, I was at the range to have some fun...

Cheers

Guys paid 2 and 3 times more for modern shotguns that they wouldn't post groups of because the guns weren't accurate.

And here, we have a hundred or so rounds out of a new gun with a mil-spec trigger (not a 'proprietary' trigger) that seems wasn't even really tried for accuracy, only compatibility with ammo, and there's questions and complaints...

This site is nothing if not consistent.

I shot mine today, I'll try and figure out how to put up a picture. Let's see if this works.

This is 30 rounds, 3 mags back to back to back at 100 yards. Shot fairly rapidly. I happened to have a pile of handloads for my m305 I shot today. Out of roughly 100 rounds or so I had 1 bad primer and my partner who was working limp shouldered one round so it didn't pick up a round once. Otherwise ran like a top.

Trigger is pretty mushy and I think made out of pure sandpaper, so I think this thing has some potential.

100% this thing is gonna be a runner with an aftermarket trigger, like night and day. I'm dry firing mine right now and wondering how in the hell it shot so well yesterday... My Tavor's stock trigger was way better!

I hate to make recommendations before other people get their guns delivered and try it for themselves, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's a requirement if you plan to shoot for any kind of accuracy. Plan to spend another couple hundred but then I think it'll be squared away.

Roger that, now what kind of trigger should I be looking for? I've never dealt with any AR style triggers.

It's believed to be a standard ar 15 trigger correct? What's a good site sponsor to order from with regards to this subject?

Probably the least expensive one :p

If you speak to salesmen you will get a sales pitch. Best to start a thread in this forum (or search for old ones) on the subject and get peoples opinions before you decide on what to get.

I would go 2 stage for a long range gun personally, it's nice to lean into the trigger a bit before you commit to pulling as you hover over your target. I've used Giessele's in the past but I got a CMC for this one, a 2 stage 4 lb pull, 1 lb in the first stage and 3 lb on the second. I think Trigger Tech, Timney, Elftmann and many others make awesome triggers, that's the nice thing about the AR platform is that there are a ton of great ones. You pay a bit more for the drop-in style but they are an easier install.

The two stage trigger tech drop in trigger would work well in this. I would stick to a drop in trigger package since they are machined to known tolerances. I am 99% sure you won't need to complement the Trigger Tech with anti roll out pins. They sell for 300 from multiple site sponsors.

I think with that one out of thirty I can safely call it a mistake or flyer. I was going to do a 10 round group, then said screw it, did 20, said screw it again.

I'll be picking up something aftermarket for a trigger for sure. And my m305 I'll go grease up well as it'll probably sit for awhile.
