The next project getting built is going to be a custom Swiss Arms carbine, with a longer custom barrel reset to NR status. I'm thinking of decent ranged options; so, battle rifle scopes. What are you guys running?

Standard AR height optics are too high. You need either a good lightweight 1-4x in REALLY low rings, or a fixed power ACOG. I'm assuming you have a flattop, because standard AR mounts on TOP of the iron sighted version are stupid high.

I have a TA33 on mine (NR Carbine flattop) and it's still too high. Trying a TA50 next.

The point of making the carbine NR is to have a lighter end product than the full size rifle. As such, don't put a massive heavy optic on it... kinda defeats the purpose. :)

Actually this is very true. I have forgotten how ridiculously high AR optics sit on the Swiss, especially with a non-flattop model. Thats actually why I currently have a TRS-25 on my Swiss instead of my DR. :(

Kind of what I was thinking! I was going to go with a TA33, as the eye relief is way less to deal with. Most of my other guns run either red dots or variable power optics, so this would be a good chance to try a fixed zoom, and lets be honest here, I wouldn't cry if one of the green, horseshoe reticle Trij's shoeed up on my doorstep!

A question for the lads, then; does anybody have any VS experience between the chevron and horseshoe reticles? I think I like the horseshoe more, but is there any practical reason to pick the chevron?

I prefer the horseshoe in green. The chevron MIGHT be considered better for accuracy, but the dot In the horseshoe is still plenty small for my needs.

Just got my TA50 with green horseshoe and its superb. Perfect height for the Swiss flattop!

The more I look at it, the TA-11 H-G is looking like my huckleberry. Longer eye relief, solid reticle, enough zoom to make hits and open enough to hit running coyotes or have a half decent FOV... and then price point sucks :( such is the price of being a perfectionist and a gun nut

Swiss Arms Carbine with TA50 ACOG - the optic height is PERFECT. I've never been able to get good cheek weld without a cheekrest, so this works out awesome.

They show up on EE for 11-12 hundred.
