Moose Hunting Quebec

I'm toying with the idea of going moose hunting in Québec next year. I'm getting sick and tired of not getting a tag here in Ontario and have been mulling the idea over with a couple of friends. Can someone recommend a good outfitter to go through in Québec? It would be for rifle.
 
I will definitely be going there as soon as my boy is old enough for Quebec hunting, he just turned 12 and got did his PAL/Hunters course. Since I live in Ottawa it will be much cheaper than going up towards Thunder bay or farther.

However I won't be using an outfitter I already have an idea of where I will hunt.

The non resident tag is pretty expensive, 400 some dollars if I am not mistaken. But then, one only lives once...
 
I don't know outfitters but can suggest looking at Sepaq. They're the provincial goverment agency that manage the provincial parks and "reservations"/protected areas. They have cheaper packages and good services.

To shop an outfitter I'd suggest going to the Salon chasse peche (fish&hunt fair) in Montreal or Quebec. Most will have a booth and some promotions.

$400 is peanuts if you get an adult moose tag.
The way things are going I'll be in my grave before I see another adult moose tag here in Ontario.
 
I looked into it for this fall but unfortunately one of my hunting partners got cancer.

Anyway the place I looked at was going to cost us about $1000 each which included the tags (one bull for every two guys) a cabin, boat and an exclusive area to hunt. I can't comment how good they are because I never got to go but they are very nice people.

Im sorry to hear about the circumstances, but that trip sounds great.
 
We had a successful hunt here last year http://pourvoirie100lacs.com

The owner Paul and staff were great accommodating everyone. I would rate our experience 5 star. The lodge and cabins were better than we hoped for. Clean spacious. I prefer it over my groups camping trips for moose.

One bull tag for every 2 guys and all the stuff you described is fantastic for $1000 each.
A lot better than you'll get in adult moose tag poor Ontario where an adult tag for a week will go for $3000 or more.

Ya the cabin was $600 and the moose licence was around $400. The way they work the tags is two guys per tag but only those two guys can hunt that tag. No party hunting like Ontario, so if you and your partner tag out the first day you could not hunt on the rest of your groups tags.

Personally I like the way they work the system as opposed to Ontario's party hunting. Seems too easy to accidentally take too many. Besides two guys trying to get a moose prepared for travel should be busy for most of a day and since it seems like a drive in hunt a couple of bird guns in the truck would keep them busy chasing small game while the other folks try to fill their tag.

That's true, I was there in 2014 and we were able to drive to our cabin. Just a heads up though, the road from the highway was 130 KM's of washboard, ruts and dust like I've never seen, it took us 2 1/2 to 3 hours to go up it because we were towing a trailer and we broke a leaf spring on the way out. The people that run it were accommodating and pleasant but the cabin we stayed in was a real shack, mouse infested, holes in the stove pipes that let you see the flames, no water, not even for drinking and if they put you in a spot with no moose you can't go anywhere else. The trail to the cabin from the main lodge was suited for a four wheeler not a truck and trailer and we caused some damage to the trailer trying to get over ruts and rocks as well as numerous scratches on the truck. It was an adventure for sure and I wish they had of been a little more forthcoming with information on the condition of the roads, trails and cabin.

Thanks but no thanks.
There's nothing but friendship holding the panels together on my old bush truck now.
After a trip on that road we'd be walking home.
