"Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers"

For those of us who:

a) have S&W revolvers
b) don't own a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, and
c) have lots of time and/or insomnia

I came across a very long-running thread on The Highroad (started in 2008 and still going) where a fellow in Oz has been looking up dates of manufacture. Many enquiries are for TEWWANDFTP (Those Evil Weapons We Are Not Deemied Fit to Possess), being of murder-inducing calibre or barrel length, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.

I see there are a couple of used copies on Amazon.com for not-unreasonable prices. But then, I'd feel obliged to buy more S&W revolvers...
