I'm looking into buying a new scope ether a Bushnell 3500 or a Nikon monarch 3 , i see they both have lifetime warranties but when i look up reviews on both companies i noticed it seems you get a 50/50 chance of them honouring their warranty. I'm wondering what types of experience people are having with scope warranties.

I recently sent in an older pair of Bushnell binoculars and the warranty depot replaced then for me and I had a new pair in a week. I have heard only good things about Bushnell warranty these days.
Can't comment on Nikon warranty. I have a three Nikon scopes including a Monarch 3 but to date have had no problems at all with them.

I've had to warranty stuff from Bushnell twice and had zero issues with them. Can't tell you about Nikon never owned one.

I love my SIGHTRON warranty. I have never ever had to use it. 4 optics, and 25 years total use among all the glass, hunting, benching, 3 gunning, and not one failure.

I'm quite happy with Bushnell at the moment. I bought a used elite tactical HDMR that was purchased before their new warranty was in effect and it took a fall at the range and bent the internals of the scope. Not a single issue dealing with them, once they recieved it it was repaired in 2 days and on its way back to me. I havent dealt with any other manufacture for warranty yet but am impressed with Bushnells service.

I had a Bushnell spotting scope break on me, sen it in under warranty...they didn't fix it, they sent me a new one, a higher end model !

Buy a Leupold. In the unlikely event that you need the warranty all you have to do is send it to Okotoks AB.

Sound advice. Ive have sent some scopes to Korth and turn around was about 1 week. Ive dealt with others..for instance Gentec which deals with Zeiss and its was quite a hassle. Really hard to beat Leupold.

After shooting all day in the pouring rain, some moisture got in behind the eyepiece of my Bushnell Elite Tactical. I was able to finish my match, but eventually fogged up the eyepiece. I brought it directly to the Bushnell outlet in the GTA; they had none in stock, so they said they would ship me a brand new one; which they did in a couple of weeks. Incidentally, they told me to keep the peripherals from the original scope: lens shade, caps, and battery. I am now looking for my third Bushnell Elite scope for my soon to be here BCL102.

The major brands in Canada support their product... problem happens with grey market scopes that came into the country outside of the proper legal channels.

All scopes leaving the US have their serial numbers logged with the US govt as part of the export rules. Grey market scopes typically don't. If a scope company is audited and found to have items not properly papered, can run into some serious heat. Why they can reject servicing them.

Believe me, no scope company wants the "bad" press but they also have a business to protect....

Had a Leupold VX-III that I had had for 5+ years and I sent back to have a new reticle placed (traded in duplex for one of the christmas tree-style horus reticles). UPS delivered the package -- empty, the scope gone. Leupold called me and asked if I had insured the package (I had), sent me a brand new scope (brand new VX-3 with the new reticle) and asked that, if I ever was able to get the UPS insurance to pay, that I send them the settlement. UPS refused to pay, even though they had delivered an empty package -- so Leupold just told me the new scope was on them. Fantastic service.
