Ive got a couple magazines that got wet in a basement flood and have started to rust. Are they salvagable and safe to use?
Can i soak them in something? Recomendations?

Thanks

Some fine steel wool and some oil will help get the rust off, then you can determine what state the metal is in from there.

Like he said.

If they weren't in the water too long (like weeks) or sitting too long before being cleaned then there shouldn't be any problem. A touch up of bluing may also be needed.

Just clean off the rust. The mags will work just fine unless the rust was so advanced that the casing is mechanically unsound, or the spring breaks.

can you take the floor plate off/ , if so strip it down and take a bore brush, SS or what ever and spray with g96, wd 40 and scrub the hell out of it, same with the spring.

Soak them in diesel fuel or ATF or varsol (kerosene, mineral spirits, jet fuel); then take them apart and use brushes and steel wool to clean them up; springs and all. Degrease, and oil.
