Curious what the recommended options are for something light weight, bolt action, and stainless. The scouts look pretty appealing.

What do you all enjoy?

I would go to a few shops and look at a bunch, and see what appeals/feels right to you. Ruger, Remington, Winchester, tikka, Sako, weatherby etc. Once you figure out what you want, I would do some looking to find a good deal.

I will encourage your idea of a scout.
I've bought and sold more rifles than I can remember trying to get exactly what I found in the Ruger Scout as an all purpose rifle.

It isn't what I would call lightweight though.

My son's Tikka T3 shot 0.5 MOA out of the box with factory ammo (Federal Red Box)....best value for money I've found yet, but I haven't owned or tried a Scout.

In the old days, that was a lightweight.

Oh, "I" know that Cub'. ;)

But if I recommended the Scout on a thread that asked for "lightweight", someone will quickly chime in how their Tikka, Kimber, Axis, Xbolt, etc....are at least a pound lighter and thus an actual lightweight (while sipping tea with a pinky out). :)

ruger scout +1. sako is kind of on the pricey side but you need to watch out for those 6 o clock ejecting situation which bump the case straight up into your scope
