I just picked up a used mec reloader and am getting ready to try some 410 shells. Probably just 2 1/2 inch for now.
I have checked a few recipe websites and have an idea on what is out there, but I am curious what those who reload this gauge regularly have found to work well.
Thanks

My experience reloading 410 has been limited to using what was recommended for best hull life online. Winchester AA HS hulls, Winchester primer, Claybuster wad and Winchester 296 powder. Can't remember how many grains, but whatever max listed load was. More important than what components, make sure you scale your charges. The shot drop will likely be light. Bore out the bar until it actually drops 1/2 ounce (219 grains) This will give you proper stack height which will give you better crimps.

Fed used to make a 3" 3/4oz load that made the .410 a solid 25-30 yard gun There is data that duplicates it available.Harold

Thanks for the responses. I currently haven't picked up powder for the 410 yet. I am undecided between W296, H110, IMR 4227, or Lil Gun. I have a bunch of 2 1/2 inch federal hulls and a couple of bags of CB 410 HS wads that came with the reloader, but a pound of powder will last a long time for the amount I shoot the 410, so I would like to get one that will work well.

From what I have read 300-MP is your best bet for Federal hulls. Lower pressure for a given velocity which means a slightly "cooler" powder burn to increase hull life. Federals have a reputation for hull/brass separation, again from what I have read online.

I am still using the old AA hulls. Started out using federal primers, claybusyer wads and lil gun powder. Just switched to chedite primers and they work fine. Problem I'm havin h is getting them to sway in the hull properly in the once fired hulls.

We have some fiochi primers that do the same in some 12 gauge hulls . I think that they are a little larger in diameter than the regular primers. The primers came in a reloading consumables package I picked up and we will soon be out of them. I will then ditch the hulls they were used in.
