Ruger 10/22 Tactical Mag when RCMP complicates your life

Sorry Pecheneg - I spit beer through my nose the moment you put Grock-co on your ignore list - whoops I think you put 22luver on that chit list. Lucky for you Grock-co! Personally, I'd like to get the fidget spinner adaptor, even if the odd round might drop out.

yup, 5 rounds is definitely going to stop evil ppl.. at least liberals think this way
anyhow.. what about actual magazines-did I miss any tacti-cool mags for Ruger?

Mag restrictions are silly... Here's a video I think you'll enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSySuemiHU

So, Rugers are stuck with 10 round mag lameness... but there is no problem at all loading up a 30 round mag for a Remington 597...

Heck, you can even get a 70 round drum.. https://promagindustries.com/remington-arms/798-rem-a4-remington-597-22-lr-70-round-drum.html

I'm am soooo glad all this imaginary crime is being prevented by restricting mag capacity for one rimfire rifle brand

Ahem, "10" rounds.

Centerfire is restricted to 5 rounds, unless I am misinterpreting what the OP is referring to when he mentions using a .22 LR rifle to "train" for the "real" rifle.

crocodile tri-mag is fine.. but not for "tactical mag change"... besides, how to carry it... strange thing anyhow.. but 30 rounds all together
I put 22forever or something whatever is his nickname, I don't care

PECHENEG,
Speaking of tactical, what did you decide about your S&W AR? Yea or nay?

well.... off-topic.. sorry guys
AR-15... hmm.. there are three criteria for SHTF rifle:
1. relatively cheap (MP15)
2. very very very very very very very very very very reliable (MP15) at least in "greenhouse conditions"
3. easy to field strip W/O ANY TOOLS-no even a single TOOL, at least the bolt and carrier and nice to clean the barrel-all I need
(again true field stripping, I repeat for some greenhousers, is when you need only your hands and nails! AR15 satisfies me on that one, unlike Ruger 10/22)

4. It is also very easy to carry and it is quite short, so very nice to stick it to the bungee and then directly to the plate carrier
5. rail is awesome
6. eats all ammo I tried so far incl. Chinese
7. even cheap red dots keep zero

So it satisfies my SHTF thinking completely, though I still prefer AK or SKS, but liking my AR more and more. I recently changed the grip (got a rubber grip from Magwedge for just 13 $-extreme quality and also has storage for SHTF).. I think the more I have it the more I like it as a platform.... to catch the rifle spirit.. you have to spend some time with it.. do some changes... shoot... feel.. like it..

but charging handle is stupid.. but most of the time I am using bolt drop button when reloading... man I like that button.. I am missing it on most rifles now...

so... 'coz I am not 30yo anymore.. it takes some time to adapt to new things, I guess.. overall more POS than NEG... and I am still struggling with peep sights... I have no problem concentrating on the front sight as I was doing it anyhow.. but man... how do you know it is in the centre... ppl say.. "your brain will tell you..."; sure.. there is endless number of near centre coordinates in the circle

I'm glad you've come over to the Western capitalist rifle! Please continue to enjoy her charms. The charging handle will grow on you too!

And...sorry for the derail. Back to the original programming!

capitalistic :) I don't care, as long as it is a reasonable platform
yes, let's go back.. I am using Ruger 10/22 to train my kids and sometimes I train the cheap way as well, when recoil doesn't matter for a specific exercise... so now my kids feel so upset after 25 round mags are finished and now they cannot even use them.. now we have 10+10 -thank you RCMP for upsetting my kids :(....

Have you considered replacing the 10/22 takedown screws with thumb screws? Then you would have a no-tools field strip.

I was in the US yesterday and touched a Butler Creek 25 rounder.

It was all out in the open and all in a "sporting goods" store!!

I couldn't believe how dangerous it felt to touch it, never mind there was .22 ammo right next to it on the FLOOR

These 10/22's are self loading carbines! I read it in a Ruger ad!!!

Scary!

Don't know which is more stupid...
- The RCMP guy who came up with this
- Or us going along with it

Wonder if the government would be willing to take 25,000 Canadians to court of such a silly thing :nest:

and why is that ... 'coz we DON'T HAVE A PARTY!
CCFR is good, but has to evolve!

What exactly is the point of this thread again? We've established that 22LR magazines are notoriously unreliable, so I'm not sure the 22LR qualifies as a training substitute. And I doubt we'll see any resolution to 10/22 magazine capacity anytime soon...

this thread is about using relatively reliable, or most reliable 10/22 rotary Ruger mags in a tactical set-up with cheap/ almost free mag coupler for personal training/ cheap tactical training (except recoil)/ training for the beginner/ small person/ kid.

I think this thread was informative at the beginning and now it looks like nobody is proposing any other options except mag couplers 10+10 or tri-mags, which are crazy for tactical...

again, this is not tactical against squirrels/ gophers.
