What are my options for .22lr handgun in $500 range ?

ive got about a dozen 22LR pistols.
when my daughters started shooting (at about 10) they really liked the S&W 422 and 622.
the weight was just right for them, easy gun to use.
getting hard to find them though.
GSG 1911 they found too big for their hands.
M&P22 was light but big in the hands.
Buckmark (while my favorite) was big in the hands and has some weight too it.
Ruger 22/45 lite is good for weight and not bad for size in the hand.
22 6 shooter's, ive got 3 and my daughters didnt care for them at all.
at the time i had contemplated getting one of those Glock knock off 22's, ISSC, they are small in hand and light but i never did.
they are usually pretty cheap as well, irungunz usually has a bunch of different colors of those.
if my girls handnt liked the 422/622's i would have picked them up a ISSC i think.

if you've got smaller hands, the Browning 1911-22 is a great pistol. one of my favorites. 
same for the Ruger 22/45, great for smaller hands, but with bigger grips, will fit larger hands too. The Ruger Mark III is good for bigger hands, I found it to be too large for me, even with smaller grips.
M&22 is fun, not supremely accurate, but accurate enough for plinking and having fun.

Yes the Browning 1911-22 is a great pistol as well! It's a bit more on the costly side, but if found on sale, it's worth it. I had one before and it never malfunctioned with all types of ammo. I have large hands, but was able to adapt easily. With the low GI sights, I improved it just by painting the front sight. Easy to clean as well.

pretty accurate, bridge to mount red dot either included or available .. CCI Mini Mags 40gr were quite amicable in it ..
