Plain and simple, looking for a second .22lr rifle to add to my gun safe.
My only. 22lr is a Savage 64FXP which im happy with and shoots decently with stock scope but i don't like reloading every 10 rounds at the rate of shooting i do with it. But now my father is getting into shooting too, so im gonna be in the market for another .22 soon, so figured this one would better be a 25 rounds magazine model. Any suggestions?

Bought a Marlin Papoose and I really like it. Same 25rd mags fit it all Marlin 795 actions. 795 onsale at Cabelas for $199 as I type this.

Why not go bolt action? They tend to have better accuracy, and often better triggers too. Then 10rd mags won't be such a hindrance either.

I'm really happy with my GSG-15 rifle. I've put arround 10k down range without issue. When I shoot the CCI AR tactical through it I could spell my name on the target like lasers. Kinda odd but the mag that came with the gun holds 24 rds and the extras i bought only hold 22 knda weird but a non-issue. Cleaning it is a bit of a pain but not too bad....

The MARLIN 795 in Cabelas stated to come with a 10-Rnds mag, is a 25-Rnds magazine available for it?

Promag makes 25 round mags for the Marlins:

I have a bunch of them, they work great.

If you want to go upscale, you can get 25 round mags for the CZ 452/455/512 guns now. I got one of them for my 452 on a larf, and it's actually quite useful in the gopher patch, even on a bolt gun. Hard to beat CZ quality.

I wouldn't touch promags again in my life. As stated before, I picked some up for a 10/22 MAGNUM (no Charger magnum ever) and they jammed so bad I smashed them with a hammer to retrieve the ammo.

Me too one of my mags is also a 24 instead of 22rds. I lost track of which mag was original . Also i found it liked the same cliche ammo CCI -AR tact. My rifle also cycle federal HV and American eagle just that anything CCI HV works better . Use Remington in other guns youve been warned .

GSG 15 is a fun little rifle and mine has decent accuracy at 100m with a 4x scope

.22LR non-restricted rifles with greater than 10 rd capacity

ARX 160-22 (use colt M4-22 magazines)
GSG 15
PPS-50
GSG STG 44

Then again they are all a bit on the expensive side, but other options to check out!

The newer T-bolts come with two ten round magazines.
One fits in the butt stock.
Gopher shooting I load the empty one while walking.
The spare mag does fit in the butt stock filled with ammo too.

Tried the RAR with the 25 round magazine and dint like it while walking
and shoot'n gophers.
Kinda like a pecker awna horse hanging down.
Makes free hand shewt'in miserable.

YMMV

The Mossberg 702 plinksters take 25 shot mags and are pretty reliable. Cheaply made though.

If the one my friend has is any indication, those guns are mediocre and the mags are plain garbage. He can only get like 20rds into his mag that's supposed to hold 25, and its not reliable at all.

The older Mossberg bolt guns were good quality and full size rifles. They just felt like a real gun in your hands. The model 146b , was a tube fed gun , and holds 20 long rifle , 23 longs , or 30 shorts. They shoot like lasers with the factory peep sights , but throw a scope on it if your eyeballs are old like mine , and make the squirrels in the old sugar bush wish they lived in a park in Toronto.

I got an stg44-22 with a 25 round mag and it's fun as hell to shoot but I can tell you , I got 2 mags and it takes more than triple the time to reload them then it does to shoot em . I honestly spend far more time loading the mags then I do shooting

I think that's pretty much standard for any semi, unless you are taking your time and trying to shoot tiny tiny groups. My handgun mags are fast to load, but i still spend more time loading than shooting with it.

oh I assumed he meant the mags were more stiff than usual or that there was an issue with them. I don't usually spray and pray so even with a semi my shooting takes as long as it does to load the mags.
