7 mm rem mag ,reloading data. Opinions?

Hey there,
I have a Browning Xbolt SS 7mm rem mag ,
And I'm trying to get a good load for it.

I have 162 ELD X and 180 VLD bullets.
H1000 powder
Winchester LMP

My first round of testing wasn't so good.
I managed to get 1 1/2 MOA out of both bullets.

I had four different loads for each bullet and
Was shooting 5 round groups at 100 yards.

I'm going to try again, working around the load that gave me the best results,with each bullet.

So do anybody have any opinion on a better bullet/ powder combo?

I was thinking the Barnes TTSX in a lighter weight, might be better.
Either 140 or 150 g.
Not sure about powder though.

This will be used for hunting moose.

And should I just stick with 3 round groups?


My chamber is 3350,
The Suggested col was 2290, I loaded the ELD to 3320 and the VLD 3330

I couldn't get the 162 eldx to shoot well out of mine either. Went with nosler etip 140gr. Instead. Quite happy with the results. I'm using h4831sc. I messed around with cheaper cup and core bullets in different weights to find what I was looking for in accuracy/velocity. Accuracy was good and recoil was light with the 140's and i was getting over 3200fps.
 
Each barrel has its preference - I reload my old Parker Hale 7mm MAG with H1000 (its preferred powder thus far) and 150g Partitions for moose hunting. Heavier bullets were MOA of barn and the lighter bullets needed very precise powder loads to balance them. My rifle has a thin barrel, so the first two shots are accurate, the third will fly a bit. Ideally, you don't need three shots to drop a moose with a 7mm MAG.
 
I know, but I just want the first shot t be as accurate as possible.

Maybe the lighter bullets are better suited for the 7mm

As for number of shots, I can shoot five,it just takes longer.
 
I have been using the 162 Eld's for this season

61.5 gr of RE22 @ 3.286 oal, Fed215M, Hornady Brass, are 2900 fps avg (Tested for my rifle 24 inch barrel) they shoot really good

It seems for my rifle they like. Bit of a jump (20 thou) In my testing with H1000 I was 69gr with same primers and brass,

I tryed 68.5 max ,30 thou jump,but results weren't that great.
I could go a bit higher though, give that a try.
 
65.5 grains of RL 26 with a 168 berger hunting vld 20 thou off the lands.....very very accurate and very good velocity.....

Wow,lots of choices..lol

I'm going to order a box of TTSX 140 and a box of Nosler 140 .
Maybe try the rl22 and the imr 4831 and 7828
 
I use RL22 with 162 sst
iMR 7828 with 168 gr chinchaga and VLD
I try H4831, IMR 4350 , H1000 and the powders above with new bullets you never know

Also I find most of my loads work better with standard rifle primers rather than magnum for tight groups
 
I do have some Federal LRP I could try.
I didn't think they would be better though.

I could do up some duplicate loads with the only diff being the primers.
Chrono both,see what changes.
