Vancouver Island-Tactical shooting friendly ranges

I'm not sure exactly what you call "tactical" shooting but most ranges will accept you if you handle your guns safely. It's when people sweep each other, damage range equipment, break range rules and shoot over berms that range operators get upset... unless the place is run by Fudds! I'm President in Port Alberni but shoot at many of the ranges around the Island. What exactly are you wanting to do?

The range in Port is great! Shot there as a guest of IronNoggin. Thanks Smiley!

I'd love to take you up on that offer ! I'm a born and raised Victoria boy living in Chilliwack now but get over every month to spend time with the family. I am a member here with a few restricteds that my young son-in-law would get a real kick out of shooting. If you can handle two guests during the day next week let me know !

Cheers,

Pat

I do IPSC, ISL, Duty pistol and 3-gun competitions on the Island. There's actually quite a bit going on, if that interests you...and you know where to look. We do have shooting clinics with Earl Green from Phase line Green Tactical, he comes and often teaches courses a couple times a year. Victoria is one of the best ranges to be at on the Island!!! PM me and I can get you in touch with this kind of stuff. We can always bring in good instructors, if there's enough interest. Shooting standing still or at a bench gets old real quick, there is a solution :)

I have to agree with that sentiment ! As a newbie I have been really quite happy to find a thriving " tactical shooting " community everywhere I go. Matches and competitions really speed up the learning curve and give you a metric ton of stuff to practice both at home and on the range.

I reached out earlier in this thread to NoChanceCW who indicted that he is up at the Victoria range on the Malahat quite often. He responded right away and we set up a date to get together there with my young son in law to initiate him. We were treated to a full afternoon of excellent instruction complete with high quality steel targets which made a huge impact on the youngster. It's all he talked about for quite some time and now he is hooked. I only hope I get the opportunity to return the favour at some point by getting together again perhaps even over here at the Chilliwack branch. Huge shout out to NoChanceCW and the VFGPA range for that matter. I'm over often enough that I may just have to join that growing organization as well.

How can you not love a well equipped member rolling out the welcome carpet , reactive steel targets , expert instruction and a cameo appearance from Waldo ... the local Llahma !

Great day out !!

Get hold of the South Island Action Shooters club at the Victoria Fish and Game Club, they will find you a mentor to help you find the path you wish to go down. I shoot with them often, it's lots of fun...the hardest part is getting brave enough to get started ;)

- truly this is the biggest hurdle!

This last weekend I participated in my first match shoot in Nanaimo, the President's Cup, and was in a squad with a crew from South Island Shooters. I don't think I could've asked for a better squad to be with for my first shoot. They're a good bunch of people, walked me through the stages and learned tonnes from them.
