Anyone mount a scope base on a DA Grizzly shotgun?

Hi everyone,

I have a Grizzly that is surplus to my "needs," (actually I have 2 but that's beside the point), and I just realized that the receiver is drilled and tapped. I never noticed before because it came with a picatinny rail/side saddle combo when I got it.

Anyway, I have it for sale on the EE right now and a prospective buyer has asked what bases it fits.

The only guns I've ever owned that were factory drilled and tapped that I can think of anyway were Ruger 10/22 rimfires and the screws in the grizzly's receiver remind me of those.

There are 3 of them, with the middle hole being closer to the rear than the front one. The distance from rear to middle is 1", and the distance from middle to front is 1 5/16" I'd say.

So all that said, does anyone know what kind of bases would fit? Do you need more information to answer?

Any help would be appreciated as I imagine I will be asked again before I sell it. I'm not much of an optic guy and certainly inexperienced when it comes to mounting them on shotguns.

Thanks for looking!

It's either the factory holes for the rear ghost ring base or this picatinnay mount, bear in mind that early and later model grizzly ghost ring sights have different hole pattern spacing. Some will accept the magwedge picatinnay mount and others won't, it's the earlier ones that don't if I recall. I only know this as I have an earlier mag fed grizzly I ordered the rail for and it doesn't line up with the tapped holes, it does line up with my wife's newer grizzly with ghost ring base holes. What do you have for a front sight at the barrel end?

Thanks for your reply. This one is a bead sight. I used to have a ghost ring sight model and while I don't remember for sure, I don't think these holes would line up with the rear ghost ring, they're too far forward.

The rail in the link you posted looks about right though, in fact it says in the description "Reciever must be drilled and tapped for mount (different than ghost ring sight holes)."

Thanks for shedding some light on the situation!

No worries, I wish mine had the newer hole pattern. Would've made mounting a red dot simple, 90% of what I shoot out of it is slugs.

DM me your email if you want to see the difference between the early and later mounting holes, I have pic of it in my photobucket that I can no longer post on here.
