So I recently picked one of these up in 6.5 Creedmoor. I've always enjoyed the Tikka actions and triggers. I must say the bolts on the T3X seem even better that I remember, they are just so smooth. No grettiness like any of the Remingtons I've owned.

One thing that always bugs me though is the feel of Tikka stocks. They just feel like a cheep plastic stock. The "new" T3X stocks still have that cheap feel. The filled them full of expanding foam to supposedly "quiet" them. The interchangeable grips though is sort of interesting but not a big selling feature.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet and I got a killer deal on some Hornday 143gr ELD-X Precision hunter ammunition.

I have been shooting Tikka for a lot of years, I don't have a CTR, but my shooting partner has two of them and they are great shooters. Actions and triggers are better than anything else on the market for the price, he replaced the stocks on his right away, and all of mine are no longer in their original stock either.

I'd eventually like to get a Mcmillan stock for mine although they are pricey and hard to find it seems.

The ctr bolt is coated with synthetic material to make it quiet. I agree, I can't even look at a remington after I got my first tikka.

Are your planning to put a muzzle brake on it?

I have a McMillan on order for a Tikka CTR custom I am working on. Should have it by Christmas with any luck. I also have a McMillan on my Stiller custom and it is my favourite aftermarket upgrade, completely worth the money in my opinion.

I suggest you Use it for awhile first . I thought the same way when I got mine but the thing shoots so good I can't imagine gain in accuracy by changing stocks , I wondered about flex using a bipod but can't say my groups show any flex ( same off bipod as bags edge to bipod if anything )
I don't know how much weight an aftermarket stock would add but the CTR is heavy enough already for my taste

Wouldn't be for any real accuracy gain, just the feel of the stock.

I have read several reviews on the Tikka CTR stock change to the manners stock with no effects on accuracy. I bought a Cadex stock for my last CTR in .308 last year and it had no effect on accuracy. Despite the cheap feel of the factory stock, I doubt you would see much accuracy improvement with a stock change. I have a T3X CTR now, and as much as I would like to change the stock, it is hard to justify a $1000 upgrade for negligible accuracy improvement.

There is no report that I know of indicating accuracy improvements after the stock dress up. I guess some ppl just want their guns to look cooler.

I just inspected my t3x Ctr stock I got specifically for a build. Plastic feeling, true but it really is a nicely finished solid stock with form filled in . It is also better than my m305 stock. So stock wise it is like axis<m305<ctr

It is a plastic stock but for what it is, it really is quite good. Little to no flex, durable, light, and they’ve made good improvements to the T3X version compared to the previous genration.

with what ammo?

i've taken my t3x ctr out once and was able to shoot a five shot group that fit under a dime but only at 100 yards with hornady match eld-m 140gr (probably just me being a poor shooter though)
