Sometimes a rifle just won't like a certain type of ammo.

Op I agree with you on how delightful the action is right out of the box. I put a yodave trigger spring in for $5 and added a ESS chassis but i would be hard pressed to buy anther factory rem700

So I took the rifle out hunting and shot my first bear with it at 300 yards. Not sure if it's the caliber, the brand of ammo, or a combination but the round with straight through without expanding at all. Dropped the bear in it's tracks but I was quite surprised to say the least.

I'm going to drop the rifle into an ESS chassis. So won't be using the original mags.

I have my older Tikka Tactical 308 in the MDT ESS chassis, it is a very worthy upgrade in my opinion. For the CTR though, I am going to McMillan to keep the original mags.

If Mcmillan wasn't so hard to get or so pricey then I would rather one of them as well.

Call Gary at Big Horn sales, he can help you out. In reality a McMillan isn't much more than a MDT, unless you go crazy on the options of course!

Question for Armedginger. With this kind of accuracy you have right now, why do you even bother to change the setup? Five rounds in one hole next? Btw awesome shooting. If I can ever do this at 100 I know I can Rest In Peace yet you did it at 250

Only because the stock feels incredibly "cheap". It feels like plastic off a toy made in Hong Kong. Don't get me wrong, it's a good stock but the feel of it really bugs me.

I would say a group double that size would be a helluva feat to repeat at that distance.

I think you need to send your tikka back for warranty work... bolt appears to have been installed on the wrong side
