Anyone else notice that? Some went on sale awhile ago, other's are still regular priced. But there's been no restocking, so far

In Red Deer AB they even cleared out pellet gun ammo last year. Turning politically correct perhaps? Harold

Was in Walmart yesterday to grab 2 boxes of .308 as it's right on the edge of town. Took at least half an hour to get someone who had the keys to unlock the cabinet and then actually be able to sell them to me. In the end it took 4 different people. Selection was poor and shelves were pretty empty. Hardly worth stocking if it costs the company $30 in wages to make $10 in profit.

I avoid that place like the plague....never have and never will like Wal-mart. The odd time I went there I usually walk out empty handed as they never have in stock what I'm looking for....trying to find help at the ammo desk ......well that's a story in itself!!!

Most of the sporting goods isles at the China town near me are gone and replaced with food aisles. Never did have ammo there.

You hit the nail on the head. Retail theory 101. Revenue per square foot of floorspace. Cheap car parts and accessories are less lucrative than cans of tuna-fish. By staffing the fruit and vegetable coolers, the goods turn over faster. It encourages customers to buy more.

Wpg stores have been the same for years. No less, no more. A few just replaced their Winchester universal stock with Challenger, so that's new for them.

I'd rather most people stay away from Walmart, that way it allows me to shop in peace and scoop up the deals with less competition.

I am was in walmart yesterday and did the usual price check for anything. The entire ammo cabinet was gone. I looked around and it had not moved either.

I figured they were just getting out of the ammo game because who seeks out walmart for ammo or any hunting stuff. I saw next to nothing for hunting gear and zero ammo, or even arrows.

Walmart's sporting goods section here in Lloyd is almost emptied of everything. There is maybe 6-10 boxes of various ammo left and the rest of the hunting and fishing stuff racks and shelves look like leftovers nobody has wanted forever. There wasn't even a fishing rod left. Their selection was always quite limited compared with the North Bay store I used to shop at when I lived there. They had a big hunting and fishing section as the sporting goods manager was an avid fisherman & hunter and kept it well stocked with gear he knew would sell in his market. There was always alot of ammo in stock at that store.

If the CFOs are hassling them as much as they are the shooting clubs on mickey-mouse, penny ante BS stuff I don't blame them.

The walmarts stateside are locked and loaded but of course they don't have a government bureaucracy mandated & dedicated to hassling anything to do with guns out of business.

We are up in New Liskeard bird hunting this weekend and the local crappy tire has all kinds of ammo and even a few guns.

I'll bet you never hunted birds in 29 degree heat before, on the 24th of September!

Walmart in POCO seems to have less and less ammo behind the glass every time I look.. I only ever get 12g target loads and 22lr there anyway. They do put out a heap load of cheap camo every fall though.
