Walmart not restocking ammo

I always felt walmart had a policy of: 1/3 of stuff sell at loss, 1/3 sell at cost, and 1/3 to sell at a higher price to make profit. I also believed ammo was overpriced at walmart because it was something they put a huge percentage of the sale as profit.

I got dragged to Wal mart yesterday by the wife. The last I remembered they always had a selection of ammo and pellet rifles and such. That is definitely not the case any more there was exactly 12 feet of locked cabinets maybe 1/4 full of small knives and two shelves of mixed ammo. Not even sure why they bother at this point wasting floor space on empty shelves and other assorted useless junk in the hunting and outdoor area.

Just walked through one today, and was surprised their cabinet was looking pretty bare; more so then I had ever seen, many empty tags. Then I stumbled upon this thread....

I have two Walmarts close to me, one has never stocked ammo and the other has not in years.
In the spring I stopped by one on the other side of town and they had all the ammo on clearance. Federal and Remington 270, 30-06, and 303 for 19.00/box. Cleaned em out.

For a while they had one variety of 410 birdshot for $10/box..... everything else was $17. Bought every box they stocked, and checked every time.

My local Walmart is in a small town. Think it's a old Zellers store. They have a few common calibers, but it's pricey. Happy I reload.

It all seems very predictable. Bad service and long waits add up to negligible ammo sales. CFO pressures increasing.
They just can't be bothered any more.
Standard Walmart policy. If they can't fix a problem by doing nothing, then it doesn't get fixed.

They have stocked the space with stuff that sells better and doesn't attract negative attention and hassle from big brother.
Walmarts in the usa are generally loaded with guns & ammo especially this time of year.
The feds and then the rcmp purposely understaffed the cfc during the c68 lgr years so store clerks would be tied up hours on the phone to miramichee getting long gun transfer approvals.

The one by my place in Calgary has completely removed the cases with the ammo, knives, optics, etc. thankfully there are a few Canadian Tires locally that are stepping up. But I still have my go to shop. They may not have it in stock but they’ll order it in.

The Crappy Tire on Grandview Hwy in Vancouver has returned the firearm section and ammo section.
You know the store where the employee was slashed across the face and a VPD was disemboweled by the bad guy who tried to kill the CT staff member.
Dont know if the VPD Officer returned to work or not though.
Support your local Gun Store....

Shelves were pretty sparse in Yarmouth when I checked the other day. Actually, I probably have more ammo at home, but I'm, a pretty poor yardstick for that kind of thing.

I've seen ammo at Walmart and bought it because it was cheaper then some other stores that sell ammo. Not much selection though and it's usually run of the mill Winchester Power Point. And found bulk 22 ammo there when nobody else had any. I`ll have to check and see if they still have any left. Might get a good deal on plinking ammo.
