Go back and shoot the thing and then we will all know what it is.
Looks like a pigeon to me with the iridescent throat patch...
Did you get any other photos of this mysterious bird?
Rob
btw, I was kidding about suggesting you shoot it to ident. the bird...kinda ...
sss
I already told you its NOT a wolf. Or someones dog...
At first glance I thought mourning dove possibly, sure looks like a dove of some sort. They are listed in the hunting synopsis so it's a possibility.
When I first saw it, I thought Rock Dove (actually first instinct was Grouse!? before I stopped and looked through the binos). But it doesn't have any odd discoloration (greens and pinks and purples), and it has this grey, long and skinny beak. In the first (now 6th) picture, Its beak is open so its pretty hard to see it... But the shape and proportion compared to the birds head didn't look like a Rock Dove. (In fact, thinking about it, it kinda reminded me of a sea gull beak.)
Looks like a dove, perhaps a mourning dove or recently found in BC Eurasian Collared-Dove. Mourning doves commonly hang out on dirt/gravel roads as they need the grit to digest food.
Here's a BC bird identifier.

I ended up on that site yesterday when I got back into cell reception. Im pretty certain its not the Eurasian Collared Dove, it was all grey and I don't recall (or can see in my pics) a black band around the back of the neck (but I wasn't looking for one at the time either, so who knows...)... Mourning Dove seems like a possibility at this point, not quite sure yet though.
edit - upon more looking, Eurasian Collared Dove seems like a possible candidate afterall. I don't remember a black band, bit was was walking towards me mostly so I might not have seen it...
European Dove, bigger than a regular dove smaller than a pigeon. Starting to see some around the home place.
This bird was not smaller than a pigeon. It was the size of a large Rock Dove, at least.
I have added more pictures to the first post. Two are just cropped versions of other pictures, so they appear bigger on-screen because these pictures are massive compared to what CGN displays...
