Let's see some matching rifles and bayonet pairs.

This one might not be classical matching rifle as all G96/11 are reworks from G96. Also G96/11 never have matching rear sights as they were manufactured separately and bear "assembly number". Also barrel bands could be unnumbered or mismatched from factory. Bayonet was factory renumbered when this G96/11 was put together. Still she is good as 96/11 could be.

Now let's see your rifle/bayo matching pairs. What else can be found in Canada - Brazilian Mausers, Portuguese K98k's, K31's?

My Mk. III Ross - one of the ones transferred to the RN after being withdrawn from front line infantry service, and issued aboard HMS Canada, is accompanied by a bayonet with RN modifications to the blade and RN frog. Rifle and bayonet have matching serial numbers from when HMS Canada went to the Chilean navy.
Some time after I acquired the rifle, the bayonet turned up, and I was able to reunite them.

Reuniting rifle and bayo is quite a story. Do you have pictures to share? 'Coz you know - "pictures or it never happened".

Rifle with serial number matching bayonets:

  • 1908 Brazilian Mauser
  • 3x 1935 Brazilian Mauser
  • Persian Mauser 29/98
  • 2 Swiss K31

sorry, no pictures at this time.

Persian and Turk surprise me, I would have not expected to find them with matching bayonets. Post your pictures when you have time, it would be nice to see all those rifles.

That M1904/39 is a rare one to find all matching like that. Most of them are mismatched on the safety, let alone having the matching bayonet. Awesome example.

This is true. I knew a fellow that spent hours in the basement of Alan Lever's store back in the sixties whose job was to strip out the hinged triggerguard/floorplate assemblies and replace them with VG or better K98 triggerguards/floorplates. Alan could get almost as much for the M1904 hinged assemblies as he paid for the rifles. None that I saw, that went through the conversion to 8x57, had matching bayonets.

That 1904/39 all matching is as rare as hen's teeth and should command a premium price.
