Since Photobucket is holding our photos for ransom, they can go chase themselves.
I'll start over with this one. It doesn't qualify under the previous cast bullet challenge, but it is my humble offering.
The rifle is a WWI '03 Springfield, made up to look like a WWII 03A4 sniper rifle, that I scored about two months back. It was a match winner in the past, but only about good with lead bullets.
Last weekend, I glass bedded the action and barrel and this morning, I put about forty lapping rounds down the barrel. Now the groups are rounder and about a third smaller.
The rifle has a newer stock and a 1943 barrel and I replaced the sheet metal parts with milled ones. The scope is a very elderly, perhaps WWII original, Lyman Alaskan. It has a 7/8 inch tube and the reticle is just a post with no cross wire. It is very clear for its age and I'm pretty pleased with the targets. The upper group is 2 & 1/8 inches and the lower two inches. Ten shots each. The bullet was the RCBS 30-165-SP, powder coated Tool Blue pushed by 36 gr. WC852. Since it doesn't qualify for the CB Challenge, I didn't bother reading it to three decimal places.
