We score all on paper and have no issues getting the scores done before the tear down is complete.
When the individual stage scores are added up by the squad scorekeeper it doesn't take long at all.
Yeah... about that...
Math done in the sun is not always particularly good.
This particular match also had - for whatever reason - one stage that seems to have been recorded slightly differently by everyone who helped with score keeping. It took a while to figure out what to do with it in a fair way.
Thanks for an awesome season.
See you next year.

How many stages do you guys normally run?
Four. Once our new bays are complete, we want to run 5. We do this to prevent shutting down the entire range to our membership, like we used to do at our Shepard range.
And one squad per stage?
Being my first year trying 3Gun it was my pleasure to make the drive from Edmonton. It's a great crew you've got there Jeff!
Anyways, here's my footage from last match mashed together. Thanks for the videography, Warren!

That's right.
Really big squads with 60 shooters then. 5 of 12 next year should make things move along a lot better, even if you stuck to a single day of shooting.
Hey Everyone,
Now that the scores are out, I figured I'd share a few thoughts about the season. Like the scores, this is coming a bit late, but it's been that kind of week.
First of all... I have been absolutely blown away by the attendance. We set new records for attendance with every match (52, 57, 60), which is awesome! It wasn't that long ago when 24 shooters was a big deal for a CDTSA match. Even last year, we only got has high as 40. This year, we had shooters from as far as B.C. and Saskatchewan, as well as from all over Alberta. However, this kind of growth means that we have reached a size where certain changes will need to be made in order to keep things fun, but more on that later.
Second... I can't thank my team enough for all the work they put into designing stages, building props, setting up, tearing down, getting heat stroke, and shepherding squads through the matches. This year was the first time running a timer for most of my guys, and I think they did a fantastic job. If anyone is interested in being part of the core team, please let me know.
Also, the response on setup day has been fantastic. Every Saturday before each match we've had great turnout for setup, including people who aren't even members of CDTSA, and people who are literally driving for hours to carry steel around. Same thing with teardown. I really appreciate everyone who has stuck around to help us pack everything away when the matches have wrapped up. These sorts of events just don't happen without this kind of involvement.
The future of 3-Gun at CDTSA is looking really good. The range is in the process of building 5 massive new bays geared towards matches and events. I'm not sure exactly when they will be completed and approved, but trust me, what has already been done looks awesome.
Another change that we're looking into include implementing PractiScore for our matches. This one is a no-brainer, but there are some challenges at an outdoor range with very limited electrical power.
The big change that we've been talking about involves making the match a 2-day event. Currently, the idea would be to get people pre-registering (via PractiScore) for either Saturday or Sunday. The Saturday group would show up and help set up the stages, then we'd shoot the match. The Sunday group would show up, shoot the match, and tear everything down. Using the last match's attendance as an example, that would mean attendance of approximately 30 shooters per day, with squads of 7 or 8 (assuming 4 squads). Each day should run pretty quick and we would avoid the 4PM+ end times that ultra large groups currently cause us to have.
I'm really interested in everyone's thoughts and suggestions. Feel free to PM me, or keep the thread going.
Thanks for an awesome season.
See you next year.

Awesome job Jeff! I don't have a basis of comparison (This being my first year with any kind of action shooting competitions), but it seems like it could have gone a hell of a lot worse. I had a blast at every one of the matches! Thanks for trusting me with the little yellow box at the last one; I was happy to help out.
Can't wait for the new bays to be finished and approved at Milo, they're gonna be crazy! Great things coming.
This is going to be a loooong winter. Is it June yet...?
Dont worry you can keep busy with us building props for next year
