Hi All,
I like Leupold quality and kind of have my mind made up to buy this scope for squirrel hunting, any opinions? Gun owners don't have opinions do they? Also where is a good place to buy one?

Thanks.

I have a few VX-2 AO scopes... I have the 3-9 on my Browning Buck Mark Sporter, but my bolt rifles have the 4-12 and 6-18... I prefer to hunt squirrels with more power than 9X most of the time, but in early season 9X is usually plenty. These scopes are excellent, quality optics, with clear glass.

It's a great scope, perfectly suited for rimfire field use if you don't need more than 9X. Mine is the older fine duplex/CDS model. If you can find one under $600, I wouldn't worry too much about where it comes from. Reliable has the non-CDS fine duplex model for $549 if you like that reticle. I'm not sure who else has them. A lot of places carry the ultralight but not the rimfire EFR.

Leupold 120617 VX-2 Rimfire EFR CDS Wide Wind Plex Scope, Matte, 3-9 x 33mm looks like a nice scope.
But at >3x the $$$ vs my Savage TR my wife would only allow me to dream of putting one one.....:)

My buddy has a Leupold 2-7x rimfire on his 455 Varmint and its a joy to look thru/use!

I had one, the only issue I had was I needed more magnification for target use. Excellent scope for the money. Some rifles might require offset rings to get enough eye relief.

Some decent VX2 deals at Tenda, but as per usual (it seems) none of the rimfire models appear available. They seem to be few and far between!

Take a look at the Leupold Rimfire2-7
It has a fine reticle and a good set parralax.
Perfect size and weight.
Fairly cheap too.

guessing those are the reasons you want the rim fire model ? 50 yard parallax, fine cross hairs and light?

Im sure your local gun store could order one.

Yes, and with the EFR the ability to focus down to about 10 yards. Even with a fixed 50, if you end up at a short indoor range, you'll be dealing with either target or reticle blur. It's specifically made for any rimfire situation, it's simply the right tool for the job.

I'm currently using a VX-III 4.5-14 with AO. It's a lot of scope for some of the heavy wooded areas I hunt and Parallax adjust down to about 50 yards. Not sure if there's enough difference between the 3-9 EFR to warrant a change or just let the close one get another chance.

If you want something that isn’t Leupold look at the air rifle section. Hawke and Leapers no parallax problems, strong enough for a springer, strong enough for a 22

I hear the Nikon 3x9 efr is pretty good at half the price.

I have had both... the Nikon is half the price and a third of the scope.
