Just wondering what most people do with new brass. Most of what I have read is just to fire from the rifle (fire formed) you plan to reload for. If doing this what type of load would a person use? Max, 10% or 20% less (save on powder)? Cheapest bullets? Or can you start to do load development at this stage. I have also read the some fl size their new brass. And also using an expander mandrel to straighten out the necks, then use a neck sizing die to get the right neck tension.
 
For the first firing of new brass, I simply chamfer, load and shoot it with usual loads. However, one concern is how "round" the mouth of the case is.
If I have cases with irregular mouth shapes, I run them through a neck sizer [or use a FL die and partial size] to make sure they are round, then chamfer and load.

Full length resizing of new brass is pointless. New brass is pretty much guaranteed to be the smallest in all dimensions that will ever be. It is made to SAMMI spec or better. It might require a bit of neck expansion if anything so that you can get a bullet in. Since I never seem to reload anything at maximum charge due to accuracy found at less that max, I just load it up with my normal settings and shoot it. Once it has been fired, I clean, lube, full length resize with die set to bump shoulder back 1-2 thou, neck resize, trim, clean again to remove lanolin lube, and reload normally. It gets the same treatment every second or third reload from this point on depending on measurements. That is what I do. Might not work for you.
 
Same as above ^^. After the first firing the brass will be formed to your chamber. Check and adjust overall length of the brass.

Suggest that you not try a light load as brass may not fully fire form in one firing.
 
I run all my new stuff through the neck sizer and chamfer and debur too.

If you just looking for a hunting load I would start loading up some to see what shot the best, but if you looking for precision I would fire them once and then start your load development.
