I'm waiting for a call back from Enviroment Canada but I thought I'd throw out the question. How would a non-resident of Ontario obtain an Ontario migratory bird permit? My father in law is here from Sask and I'd like to take him hunting. Thanks.

Migratory Bird Permits are Federal.

You can validate your Migratory Bird Permit by buying any Non-Resident Ontario Hunting License, small game might be the cheapest option...

Pretty sure you can just go to the post office and buy a migratory bird permit. They will want to see some type of hunting lic. A SASK one would do

Or he can buy a Migratory bird permit in Sask before hand

You don't need to show a hunting license to buy a Migratory Game Permit. In 30 years of hunting I was never once asked to show a hunting license. Some non-hunter will buy it to collect the duck stamp.

yup. havent ever been asked for any ID. just fill out the form, pay my 17.50 and leave

Like the others have said, the migratory permits are federal. In addition you need a small game license to hunt waterfowl in Ontario.

Arclight, any hunting license from the province you are hunting migratory birds in, validates your migratory bird permit. Small game is generally the cheapest option.

But what he said is true. To hunt in Ontario the out-of-province person would have to buy an Ontario small game license.
