So.. Now that the 10-22 has lost its apeall... now what?

So now that 10-22 mags are limited to 10 rounds, and other semi auto 22s are not... Seems like the 10-22 is loosing its appeal... to me anyways...

What's the next coolest 22 semi auto where a guy can enjoy a high cap mag and have a little fun?

Maybe something that comes dressed to play TAC or could be dressed up a bit.

Anschutz has one that kinda cool, but my confidence on that one is kinda low.

There must be something fun left out there.

Suggestions guys?
 
I think your basic assumption that it has lost its appeal maybe wrong, since many users only used the ten round magazine since it is flush with the stock, also because it is available in a take.down model
 
Those hk 22s that irunguns is bringing in seem pretty cool.
The 10/22 is the only semi 22 I've liked. Also the only ruger I've liked. I like the 10 round mags and have always preferred them. I use it like a target rifle anyway. Not a tactical trainer.
This is a bone stock 10/22 vleh with a magpul stock. I shoot cheap cci mini mags.

Exactly, the rotary magazine is a work of art in itself. If you want lots of shots, well go for something else. If you want one of the most customizable rimfire's known to man, then the 10/22 is it.

Ironically enough I first bought a 10-22 because of the 10 round restriction imposed on my S&W M&P 15-22 mags. I soon found out that, although 25+ round mags were legal for the 10-22, none of the available 25+ round magazines were very reliable (in my experience). The first Butler Creek mags I had were not very reliable, the Tactical Innovations mag was a pain, the Promag mag was completely unusable and the H3CR was a jam-o-matic joke. I did finally find some different BC mags that were fairly good, but never 100%. The only 100% reliable mags, in my opinion, are the 10 & 25 round Ruger BX mags.

I now own multiple 10-22 rifles and all I ever use are 10 round Ruger rotary mags (this was even before the current change in interpretation - limiting us to 10 rounds).

When I feel the need to do some high speed plinking with high capacity magazines I grab my AR15 and a dedicated .22 upper (both .22 uppers use Black Dog mags available in 10, 15, 25, 32 and 75 rounds and all are legal in Canada)

This thread isn't going in the direction I was hoping for. I know very well that 10 round mags are reliable... that's not the point.

I've had 3 10-22s in my life. I bought my most recent one about 3 years ago and put it into a Troy Chassis for the sole purpose of running 25 round mags and running a makeshift course of steel plates.

The game is that we run from street cone to street cone and shoot the designated plates from each position.

It's fun and its cheap. And its heck of a lot quieter than running a Bushmaster ACR DMR.

The problem I am having is that the gun in the Troy Chassis simply looks stupid with a 10 round mag in it. It would look better if I put it back into the original wood stock to run 10 round mags. But that is not the spirit of the game.

So to keep the spirit of this thing alive.. I'm looking for some other 22 semi auto rifle that has a tactical look and can legally run 20 or 25 round mags.

The only gun I can think of is that semi auto from Anschutz that was a marketing flop, and I have no idea how reliable they are.

I got my CZ 512 with 25 rd mags...she runs awesome, and shoots one hell of a lot tighter than my ruger ever did. its really well balanced, light, and shoulders nice as well. They have a tactical looking model too.

What about these? Sounds like the perfect tool for your course of fire?
 
I really do,but I scored my wooden one for like $449 on sale not even that long ago... mags aren't cheap either. I haven't handled a tactical model. Its at Al flahertys for $740 on sale right now FYI. Mags are $60 though, yikes....

It does shoot very well for a semi auto. Id do your own research/read reviews, but definitely check it out. This Dlask 10-22 with proprietary mags they are making could be the answer to the problem though. And obviously there will be much more aftermarket gear for any 10-22 variant over a CZ. I might wait and see how these Dlasks turn out though personally.

The 25 round mags lost their appeal to me not long after getting them. I would only bring one or 2 out if I had a new shooter with me, I stopped using them altogether at least 2 or 3 years ago.
