Not my pics. This young guy from Qc bagged a moose last week and was quite shocked to find it had previously been shot through the heart and it healed around the bullet.

I once shot a bear and found many shotgun shot pellets while cleaning it. I've seen pics online of people finding bullets and arrowheads but never saw an animal surviving a shot through the heart.

A couple of years back there was a dear that got shot and when they were dressing it they came across five previous bullet wounds with three bullets still logged in the old buck two in the chest ,one in the neck, one in the Shoulder and one just below the rib cage . A double lung shot is what brought him down . Shot placement is everything .
 
My B-I-L and I once shot a young bull moose as it was running across a cut block. We were young and a bit stupid because the cut block was a nightmare of fallen logs, stumps and plowed up land. But we were very lucky and the bull dropped right on the edge of the only road trail cut through the block.

Once we got it home we finished skinning it out and found one front leg has been broken then the two bone ends had overlapped then healed in place. Our guess was from stepping on the broken leg causing the dislocation of the bone ends. He was running on it when we shot him so it must have been healed up pretty well and there was no sign of any infection in the leg. My B-I-L cut the leg away and took the piece into the local F&W just for curiosity. He told me that they took it in after hours and had it X-rayed and that a bullet path was clearly seen on the ends of each broken bone. So a poorly placed bullet had done the damage. They also told him that from the amount of bone that had amassed around the broken ends that the broken leg was at least two years old. How he survived winter and wolves is anyones guess??​

although it does seem Sus, the Stag I shot which had a Projectile in betweenthe shoulder blades up high neck area, had also the Same Coloured, puss oozing inside the 'wound' so I can somewhat believe, but I'm not 100% its a Moose heart? is it? too sliced and diced to tell?
 
A group my dad hunted with found a healed /encapsulated .303 FMJ in a cow moose's hock..........some idiot using the wrong bullets and likely a hail Mary shot.Some of those old cattle killing grizzlies have been taken with many bullets in them from previous encounters.....Harold

If your ssuming a perfect broadside shot and not some sort of wild texas heart shot or deflected shot. Ive had a C&C bullet go near 90 degrees from where it entered and yet remained a nice mushroom, weird stuff can happen at mach 2.
